It’s been an exciting week for Helldivers! They finally ventured into the Gloom and met some new enemies. However, they had to do it without the support of the Democracy Space Station, as the conditions were too extreme. So, while the brave Helldivers 2 players have been fighting in the Gloom, the DSS has been wandering around the Galactic Map, causing some of the players to wonder if it would be more useful after a simple change.
The Voting System of the DSS Could Use a Change
The Democracy Space Station went offline when the Illuminate first struck. It was revealed that the Squids were behind all the problems with the DSS, so it had to undergo a makeover. Once the DSS had been fixed, the players managed to get a lot more out of it. It became quite a valuable addition.
As you know, the location of the DSS is determined democratically. That means that every player gets to vote for the location they think would benefit the most from some support. Of course, each vote is worth equally, and the players sometimes just vote for the location that’s in the lead. So, the DSS sometimes gets stuck somewhere that it isn’t needed.
Thus, some very patriotic players would love to see this voting system changed into something more managed, democratically, of course! This entire idea came from players’ frustration (the best ones usually do!) with the DSS being stuck on a liberated planet on the Squid front.
Defenses from the Illuminati last shorter than on the other two fronts. So, by the time a voting cycle finishes, the planet is usually either liberated already or close to being liberated. Obviously, this means that the DSS is unusable until the end of another voting cycle.

Helldivers 2 Players Want to Use the DSS to Its Full Potential
So, according to Helldivers 2 players, the voting system of the DSS needs to change. The players mainly suggested that the devs remove the planets that are close to being liberated. Another suggestion was for the DSS to leave and go onto the next planet once the current planet is liberated.
Terpcheeserosin noted: “I am in fact calling for Managed Democracy. I’m thinking something like, if the DSS is on a liberated planet it leaves after three hours and moves to the closest planet with action. Or maybe don’t count votes to a planet with no action”.
While some Helldivers were shocked by such a suggestion, others recognized that was what Managed Democracy was about. Sakuroshin added: “I think once the planet it was at is liberated, it should move to the next highest vote count after a short amount of time. Can’t let those DSS operators have such a long break. It’s an inefficient use of citizens’ tax dollars”.
Truth be told, it would be cool for the Managed Democracy to take over and perfect the system. Super Earth gave too much power to Helldivers, after all, our mission is to spread Managed Democracy, not make decisions on our own. So, you’ll find us on Fori Prime, we plan on staying there until the Major Order is completed. For Liberty and Super Earth.
