The First Descendant Devs Are Considering Giving Valby Her Tow Feature Back

Valby got some improvements with the latest update. One of the more significant changes was to her Laundry Bomb ability, which no longer pulls enemies, ie, no longer applies the “Towed” condition. But, after seeing the results and comments, The First Descendant devs are considering giving Valby her Tow feature back.

On January 16 we got a massive update in TFD, adding Ines, Void Erosion Purge missions, QoL improvements, and more. One of the significant changes is the tweaks and reworks for some characters, namely Jayber, Luna, and Valby. Concerning Valby, she got a couple of cool improvements, and the most noticeable is the change to her Landry Bomb. Now, instead of making bubbles that pull enemies in, she makes a single bubble, that can be expanded by adding more bubbles to it, resulting in one huge bubble. But, the ability to pull enemies in has been removed, and some fans are not too happy with it. So much so, that the devs consider bringing it back, in a way.

The First Descendant Devs Consider a Laundry Bomb Module With a Tow Feature

The huge bubble is absolutely great in its own right. You can cover a large area, dealing continuous damage to anyone inside. But, it used to apply the Towed condition, meaning that it pulls in and immobilizes any enemies caught inside. After the January 16 update, that little feature has been removed from Laundry Bomb. But it seems that that decision wasn’t a popular one.

During the latest AMA session, one player asked whether will we ever have the Tow ability on the Landry Bomb again. “I think Tow makes Valby’s gameplay extremely fun but she hasn’t really felt as fun without it, I was thinking it would be cool if you could toggle versions of laundry bomb by pressing the ability in her module menu to change it back and forth”.

On that question, TFD_Director_Jooms (Nexon’s Min-Seok Joo, we believe), had this to say: “…we are not currently considering reverting to the previous version. However, after reviewing the recent patch results along with the data, we may gradually consider introducing a Laundry Bomb skill module with the Tow feature if deemed necessary.”

The Module that changes the Landry Bomb already adds the “Taunt” mechanics, so the devs could simply add the Tow condition to the whole thing. The question is whether having a huge bubble that pulls enemies in would break the game and add further complications. Most likely no, but we can never be sure.
