The First Descendant Season 3 – What We Know So Far

The First Descendant Season 3 – What We Know So Far

The second Season of TFD is well underway, but the players have already gone through all there is and are asking for more. We expect to see a lot of improvements and additions in Season 3 of The First Descendant, so let’s summarize all that we know so far.

Nexon’s hit game is still doing well, but the second Season proved to be very “short”, ie, not a lot of engaging content has been added that the players haven’t already managed to master. The Void Erosion missions are not to everyone’s liking, Ines proved to be easy to Research, and the players are already tired of the repetitive grind to get materials needed for the Weapon Core Unlock feature. Thankfully, Season 3 is on the horizon.

What We Know So Far About Season 3 of The First Descendant

For starters, the devs said that the update is called New Update (for some reason, they don’t want to call it “Season 3”) and is scheduled for March 2025. The specific date is still undisclosed, but here is what we know so far.

New Descendants

It is already common knowledge that the next playable character is Serena. She will be the first female Descendant with the Fire Arche, and as per the devs, she does not belong to the current generation of Descendants. Rather, she’s something they call an ancestor. We have no further info on that, so she may be the same generation as Alpha, or even older.

The next Ultimate Descendant is still under wraps. Right before we got the last one, Sharen, players speculated whether that was going to be her or Blair. As Sharen got her Ultimate form, chances are that Blair is next in line. It will go in line with the whole Fire theme.

However, some fans speculate it’s going to be Hailey. On one hand, she’s still a newer addition, compared to Blair, Kyle, Enzo, and the rest, so Nexon would probably want to finish up with the original batch of characters before moving on to the next one. On the other hand, Hailey is one of the most popular Descendants, for obvious reasons, and Nexon knows it. Giving her an Ultimate version would do wonders for the game (and we all know TFD needs it).

New Region and Enemies

In the expanded roadmap, Nexon revealed that a whole new region is in the works and will be added in the New Update. They also said that a new “Monster” is on the way. This may turn out to be not just a single monster, but a whole new faction (like we have the Order of Truth, for example). With Serena (and possibly Blair) being Fire Arche, the new faction may be based on Chill, as a contrast. We have no info on the biome of the new region. Nexon already covered deserts, frozen wastelands, jungles, etc, so, for now, we can’t even speculate on the design.

Bosses and Void Erosions Expanded

As with every update, a new Colossus will join the fray, but that is all we know. Furthermore, the Void Erosions will be improved and buffed up to 50 Stages. Hopefully, this will be the endgame content the players want.

New Features, Gear, and QoL Improvements

Naturally, we’ll get a new storyline with new quests and Outposts will be getting a rework (now that Sharen is no longer mandatory for them). Four new Ultimate Weapons and more External Components are on the way as well.

Season 3 will also finally add the long-awaited Photo Mode, new and improved party search mechanics, and improvements to the Journal (probably more challenges for the completionists out there). There is also mention of a Growth system, which allows you to fine-tune your Descendants. We expect this will be in the form of some slight stat tweaks, to suit your playstyle. And finally, the “progression transfer” feature, where you “upgrade” your regular Descendant to the Ultimate version (instead of treating them like a whole different character), is supposed to be added.

With Season 3, the devs want to keep the quality of Season 2’s update, but make it even bigger. This is what has been stated by Nexon and more will be revealed in the coming weeks. For now, we have the minor update scheduled for February 6, and the so-called Hot Springs update scheduled for February 13.
