The Office Spinoff Show The Paper Renewed for Season 2 Ahead of Season 1 Premiere – IGN

No need to stop the presses — the new The Office spinoff series The Paper is taking TV by storm. In fact, the series has already been renewed for Season 2.

The renewal occurred just one day before the new series premieres on Peacock on September 4. It’s a result of a lot of positive early attention on the show, which clearly lead to the streamer and NBCUniversal’s decision to give the show a second season without seeing the viewership numbers post-premiere.

Domhnall Gleeson, star of the series who plays the pseudo-Michael Scott role, and Sabrina Impacciatore, another featured star in the series who is now best known for her work in Season 2 of The White Lotus, announced the renewal while making an appearance on the Today show to promote the premiere of the series.

The series renewal is actually right on time for co-creator Greg Daniels, as he’s been working on a second season already as far as the writing goes. He’s working on the next set of episodes alongside co-executive producer and showrunner Michael Koman, and the pair plan to have the next season out around this time in 2026.

“We definitely have ideas,” Daniels recently told Variety. “We’ve been talking about stories for a possible Season 2, and it’ll be interesting to see what the audience thinks. We’ve gotten really good feedback from people inside the company and journalists and friends, but you never know what the broader world of Office fans are going to think of it.”

Peacock will air all 10 episodes of Season 1 — which ties into the original Office series by using the same documentary crew that filmed at Dunder Mifflin Scranton to follow Gleeson’s office of journalists and the like — starting September 4.
