The rumoured new Star Fox game for Nintendo Switch 2 could be announced this month, according to the original leaker of the project

One of 2026’s hottest gaming rumours came at the end of March when trusted leaker Nate the Hate revealed that a new Star Fox game and a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time are to arrive this year on Nintendo Switch 2.

Yesterday, Nate the Hate took things further on X when answering questions regarding the game’s potential reveal window, stating, “I said StarFox will be announced this month via Nintendo Today or Twitter.”

If this pans out, it would be yet another case of Nintendo making a considerable announcement via the Nintendo Today app and social channels, and choosing to skip a more traditional Nintendo Direct reveal.

When pressed about what “this month” means (since the original claim happened in March), Nate the Hate clarified it meant April. Some users also tried to extract information regarding a potential new Partner Showcase this month, but Nate the Hate had “nothing to share”.

Nate the Hate’s track record is fairly solid and includes correctly nailing Oblivion Remastered’s existence and subsequent shadow drop last year, which is why everyone is seriously considering the possibility of Nintendo bringing Star Fox back, especially after a Super Mario Galaxy Movie cameo appearance that feels perfectly timed by Nintendo with this rumoured announcement in mind.

Elsewhere, Star Fox veteran Giles Goddard has been working on a stylish spiritual successor called Wild Blue that he’s confident fans of Nintendo’s franchise will enjoy.

As for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time getting a proper remake, 2026 marks the series’ 40th anniversary, and it’s hard to imagine a more appropriate time to unleash such a project. There’s also a live action Zelda movie being released in 2027.
