The Work on Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 May Have Begun

It looks like the last part of one of the best remakes is in the works. Recent leaks suggest that the work on Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 may have begun.

As you may recall, in 2020, Square Enix released Final Fantasy VII Remake, which is, unsurprisingly, the remake of FFVII, from 1997. The game proved pretty popular, praised by both players and critics, and it was the first of a planned trilogy of remakes, whose idea is to cover the whole FFVII story. It was followed by the award-winning Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024, the Part 2 of the remakes, which proved even better than Part 1. It was even enhanced specifically for PS5 Pro near the end of 2024, and got a PC port at the beginning of 2025. Naturally, the fans want to know when they can look forward to Part 3. Well, it looks like we just got something!

Cloud’s Voice Actor’s Post Indicated That the Work on Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 May Have Begun

Recently, the voice actor for Cloud, Cody Christian, posted an image of himself on his Instagram profile (story) in what seems to be a recording studio. It also includes a message: “so happy to be back with my bestie”, with a stylized image of Cloud Strife.

Unsurprisingly, the players are pretty excited, with some arguing whether this means that the game is near completion or only in the initial stages. Usually, games as big as the FFVII remake do a lot of facial expression capturing, so the characters actually look like they are speaking their lines properly, and not just opening their mouths at random intervals. For example, the voiceover for Red Dead Redemption 2 took about five years, but the results speak for themselves.

Most likely, Cody’s post means that the work on the game is in its early stages. It took Square Enix four years from FFVII Remake to FFVII Rebirth, so we expect that a similar (or slightly lesser) number of years will be needed for Part 3.
