Nintendo has officially revealed the two actors who will be playing both Link and Zelda in its live-action The Legend of Zelda movie, as if out of nowhere, and both actors are relatively unknowns for such a big title.

The actress Bo Bragason will be playing Zelda, while the character Link will be played by Benjamin Ainsworth. Bo is best known for her roles on Renegade Neil and the recent TV series King and Conqueror, while Benjamin has appeared as the voice of Pinocchio in Disney’s 2022 live-action remake, as well as appearing in the TV show Son of a Critch.

But it is Bo Bragason who, surprisingly, has some minor experience working in video games already. She did 3D scan model work for Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV back in 2016 as Young Luna, according to her IMBD.

Outside of these two cast announcements, most of the other information surrounding the project is unknown. Though we do now have a release date for the movie of May 7, 2027. More details on the cast will likely appear over time, but looking at social media, both picks have been well received by the Nintendo community, and they look forward to more details appearing over time.

Most of the story is also unconfirmed, though with the release date being so far away, we don’t expect to get some initial teaser trailer until late next year, when most of the filming has likely been completed. There are also other gaming movies to look forward to from Nintendo as well, with a sequel to the Super Mario Bros. movie in the pipeline, and a Donkey Kong movie reportedly in the works from Universal, too.
