Total War is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a livestream later this week, promising new reveals

Sega and Creative Assembly have announced a 25th anniversary celebratory livestream will take place later this week for Total War, in which new projects will be revealed to the masses for the first time.

According to the official release announcing the event, fans on Thursday 4th December, will be able to see exciting new stuff across “historical and fantasy Total War, offering a first look at what’s been in development behind the scenes.” So this is something absolutely worth tuning into.

The event will be going live on the official Total War YouTube and Twitch channels. In terms of timing, you’ll want to be present at 8am PST / 11am EST / 4pm GMT / 5pm CET. There’s no word on how long it’ll be running for, but we do know it’ll be co-streamed, so maybe one of your favourite streamers will be checking it out live.

Now, what could these new projects be? Well, there are some games rumoured to be cooking away over at Creative Assembly. For one, reports last year stated a Star Wars game was in development, and there is some evidence pointing towards a Warhammer 40k title too. We just don’t know for sure, all the more reason to check into the livestream on Thursday.

One thing is for certain: Creative Assembly is sorely in need of a win. Its last big Total War release was not well received, with the company offering refunds to those who bought Total War: Pharaohs. It had Hyenas cancelled, causing the studio to refocus back to strategy games. Not only that, the company also suffered layoffs last year.

That being said, Creative Assembly has a history of releasing fantastic strategy games, so here’s hoping the devs there can show the world why they remain, frankly, one of the genre greats.
