Summary
- UFC 5 players need specialized fighters with clear weaknesses, facing powerful divisions.
- Combat spam players by making a specialized yet strong fighter with proper point distribution.
- For BJJ builds, prioritize striking for submissions; leverage perks for stamina advantage.
In UFC 5, nothing is more frustrating than making a build, especially at low prestige, as players must accept that their created fighter is hyper-specialized and/or has clear weaknesses. Moreover, they need to acknowledge that others who fight in the lighter weight division are creating characters that look like Shamil Gaziev, but move like prime Karate-stance Connor McGregor. It’s difficult, to say the least.

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu
Submissions – Charles Oliveira Posture
Perks |
Description |
Like Glue |
Initiates, advances, and counters more easily when grappling on the feet. |
Crafty |
Improved submission defense in bottom positions. |
Nightmare |
Boosts a fighter’s Grapple Defense whenever they are in a bottom ground position. |
Work Horse |
Uses less stamina when grappling on the ground. |
Out The Gates |
Strikes consume less stamina during rounds 1 and 2. |
This build offers solid takedowns, striking, and, of course, submissions! UFC 5 has many routes to submissions, such as on the ground, standing, or flying submissions, making Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) feel more dynamic than ever. The investment in striking allows players to keep up on their feet and end it there, if need be. The perks, Like Glue, Crafty, Nightmare, Work Horse, and Out The Gate, allow players to pressure early, be dominant in wrestling exchanges, and enforce their submission game, while resisting the submissions of others. Players can end fights by submission through chaining submissions. However, it is easier to win via submission through having the stamina advantage, which can be accomplished by attacking the body and denying transitions. This build requires a lot of evolution points. Some aspects can be ignored, like ground striking, to alleviate the expenditure.
Strengths
- Well-rounded: Players with this build can wrestle, submit, and strike.
- BJJ/Takedown Defense: This builds bread-and-butter. On the ground is a place nobody will want to be against this build, unless they are brave.
- Early Fight Pressure: Out The Gates allows players to implement a body-striking and stamina-draining game from the jump.
- Takedown Offense: This build provides solid takedowns, which are important for implementing submissions.
Weaknesses
- Lacks specialization: This build is not as good at wrestling or striking as those who specialized.
- Range: Lacking a kicking game means range is more difficult for this build.
- Evolution Point Hungry: This build requires a lot of points, possibly the most.
This build is not beginner-friendly. To get the most out of this build, players need to learn legacy controls, which can be incredibly esoteric and overwhelming in online games. Alternatively, players can invest in kick power instead of being takedown or punch-heavy, as knees to the body are great at sapping stamina. It’s also possible to get rid of clinch striking for something else if players are not clinch-heavy grapplers or need extra points somewhere, like stand-up. Continue investing in submissions, takedowns, health, punches, bottom game, takedown and submission defense, and possibly kicks.
3
Kickboxing
Dynamic Ranged Fighting – Rafael dos Anjos Posture

Description |
Crazy Legs |
Roundhouse and switch kicks are faster and more accurate. |
Marathoner |
Actions consume less stamina while moving. |
Laser Focus |
Straight, superman, and spinning punches are faster and more accurate. |
Fast Hands |
Hooks, uppercuts, and overhands are faster and more accurate. |
Out The Gates |
Strikes consume less stamina during rounds 1 and 2. |

UFC 5: The Best Kickboxing Combinations
Learn how to use some of the best kickboxing skills in UFC 5 to take down opponents with ease.
Kickboxing is arguably the most dynamic martial art. Like boxing, it boasts a low-skill floor and high-skill ceiling. Kickboxers blend powerful punches with a diverse arsenal of kicks: leg, body, teep, and head strikes punish players attempting to close the distance and tag them on entry. The perks Out The Gate, Fast Hands, Marathoner, Crazy Legs, and Laser Focus make punch-kick combos easier to land and less stamina-intensive. Better punches aid in setting up kicks, and the conserved stamina can be used to pressure, slip, and pivot. However, unlike boxing, kickboxing is more evolution point-intensive. Players must invest in all aspects of stand-up fighting or find themselves very limited.
Strengths
- Versatile Striking: The most striking variety of any playstyle, enabling devastating and fluid punch-kick combos.
- Distance Management: Unsurprisingly, having a variety of kicks means there are tools to dictate the pace and punish pressure-heavy styles.
- Early Fight Advantage: Early rounds are favorable, due to the Perk Out The Gates, as the fighter consumes less stamina.
- Stamina Management: The perks Marathoner and Out The Gates give the fighter excellent stamina.
Weaknesses
- Evolution Point Hungry: This build requires more evolution points than plain boxing, but not as many as wrestling or submission builds.
- Poor Takedown and Submission Defense: A good wrestler can outwrestle a kickboxer, and others can catch the kicks and attempt a trip for the takedown, and they are susceptible to being submitted.
- No Takedown/Ground Offense: Players may get surprise takedowns. However, they will have poor takedowns, throws, transitions, ground and pound, and submissions.
- The Pocket: Players will be at a disadvantage to boxers in the pocket, as they have faster and stronger strikes.
This build is beginner-friendly and offers a variety of versatile punches and kicks. Players can build their fighter as a counter striker, with perks like Untouchable. They should continue investing in their kicks, punches, head movement, footwork, health, bottom game, submission, and takedown defense. Avoid wasting points on flashy kicks. Instead, prioritize the flying knee, front body kicks, oblique kicks, and the axe kick, as they are practical and safe, if players do not spam them. Prioritize improving kicks and punches, accuracy, footwork, and head movement, while spending points on their takedown and submission defense, bottom game, and health.
Players who struggle with wrestlers or want added takedown defense can use To Your Feet.

Wrestling
Takedowns – Khabib Posture
Perks |
Description |
Work Horse |
Use less stamina when grappling on the ground. |
Slam Boost |
Power takedowns do more damage. |
Like Glue |
Initiates, advances, and counters more easily when grappling on the feet. |
Wrestle Clinic |
Boosts a fighter’s Grapple Defense whenever they are in a top general position. |
Grinder |
Use less stamina when grappling on the feet. |
For all the players sent to go “2-3 years Dagestan and forget.” Wrestling is more dynamic and DC-inducing than ever, with plenty of ways to take opponents to the ground, whether by tripping in a collar tie, judo throws, reversals, or just plain shooting in the open. The perks Work Horse, Slam Boost, Like Glue, Grinder, and Wrestle Clinic enhance the players’ wrestling on their feet and on the ground. It makes them oppressive once they have their opponent on the ground, and it exposes fighters with poor takedown defense as they can be forced to sit and watch, as they are smashed into the canvas for 5-minute rounds. This build is extremely evolution point-hungry. However, players can ignore kicks and submissions to alleviate that somewhat.
Strengths
- Well-rounded: This build provides a decent striking game. This is important for masking the takedown and being a threat on the feet.
- Takedown Defense: The takedown defense is three stars, like the rest. However, their ground game gives them the advantage as soon as the fight hits the mat.
- Clinch Game: This build provides players with a good clinch game, from which takedowns or strikes can be initiated.
- Takedown offense: The best out of all 4 builds, their takedown variety, and top game make them nasty on the ground.
Weaknesses
- Stand-up: This build is competent on the feet and can win, but it is not as good as specialized strikers, like boxing or kickboxing players.
- Range: Being at range leaves fighters susceptible to kicks and makes the takedowns more obvious.
- Submissions: Having a poor submission game means players are only capable of striking on the ground against most opponents and are vulnerable to BJJ experts.
- Evolution Point Hungry: This build requires a ton of evolution points.
This build is more intermediate, as players who want to wrestle will need to practice, so they know all their options and utilize them effectively. Alternatively, they could invest more in submissions, too, but doing so may leave them limited on their feet. So, only spare the evolution points when possible. Players should continue to invest in and prioritize their takedown offense, stand-up, top game, ground striking, clinch work, bottom game, health, takedown, and submission defense.

Hooks, uppercuts, and overhands are faster and more accurate. |
Out The Gate |
Strikes consume less stamina during rounds 1 and 2. |
Laser Focus |
Straight, superman, and spinning punches are faster and more accurate. |
Untouchable |
Sways while moving backwards or sideways evade more effectively. |

UFC 5: The Best Boxing Combinations
Putting together boxing combos is the key to success in UFC 5. Here are some of the best.
Arguably, the most enjoyable way to play and the one with the lowest skill floor. This build requires players to invest their evolution points into stand-up and health primarily, with a few points into their grappling’s “bottom game” for escaping. Those using this build should neglect their kicking game (unless they want calf kicks, then kick power is a good investment), as it will just make the character a worse kickboxer, and the base kicks are powerful enough to knock out opponents. A good principle at low prestige is to leverage the strengths and minimize distractions. The perks follow this principle: Bulldog, Fast Hands, Out The Gate, Laser Focus, and Untouchable enhance strikes, better cardio, blocking, and make it easier to evade and slip strikes, with the goal being to get the knockout early.
Strengths
- Stand-up: Powerful punches and elbows. Alongside good movement, slipping, and stance switching for dominance in striking.
- Health: High durability, fast recovery, and good cardio to survive an action-packed fight. Cut resistance reduces the chance of a doctor’s stoppage.
- The Pocket: Boxers will be better than any other style in the pocket, due to their fast and powerful striking.
- Low Investment: The most cost-efficient out of all four builds.
Weaknesses
- Range: Lackluster kicks mean players have to get on the inside and cannot just pick at range against kickboxers.
- Poor Takedown and Submission Defense: Good wrestlers can outwork a boxer on the ground, and a BJJ practitioner can submit them.
- No Takedown/Ground Offense: Strikers may get takedowns through panic wrestling. However, they will have poor takedowns, throws, transitions, ground and pound, and submissions.
This build excels as a beginner-friendly build, while being fun and practical in higher-level play. The meta is fast boxing, so players will find most fights will remain standing, outside of panic wrestling. They should continue investing points in their punches, accuracy, health, footwork, head movement, takedown, submission defense, and bottom game as needed. Avoid wasting points on unnecessary flashy punches and elbows, like the “cage Superman punches” or “spinning elbows.” The “Superman jab” or “Superman punch” can close distances and is more practical, so invest in it and/or the “lead overhand.”
Predator is a required perk for higher punch power, and players can use the Superman punch or jab to close distances and punish kicks!
