Upcoming Xbox Games

Upcoming Xbox Games

At this point, the Xbox Series X/S is a known commodity that has amassed a pretty respectable library of games, covering both major AAA projects and indie darlings. Microsoft opted for a dual-tier system for this generation, offering the high-end Xbox Series X alongside the more budget-friendly Xbox Series S, with the latter being digital-only. Game Pass has continued to flourish over the last few years, with any Xbox console exclusives typically debuting directly on the subscription service.

The last few years have produced plenty of fantastic games, particularly in the open-world genre. Elden Ring, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands were all good or great 2022 releases, and they offered wildly different experiences from each other. The year’s successor largely followed suit with projects like Dead Space, Street Fighter 6, Hi-Fi Rush, Remnant 2, Forza Motorsport, and Lies of P. Meanwhile, 2024 produced big games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. What upcoming 2025 Xbox games are the most exciting? Which titles are expected to drop in 2025?

Please note that the focus is on the North American release dates of Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One games. Expansions will also be listed.

Updated May 17, 2025 by Mark Sammut: New upcoming Xbox games were added to the calendar: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy – Enhanced Edition, Section 13, Elemental War Clash, Spray Paint Simulator, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die, How 2 Escape: Lost Submarine, No Heroes Here 2, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot – DAIMA – Adventure Through The Demon Realm – Part 1, Toaplan Arcade Collection Vol. 1, Toaplan Arcade Collection Vol. 2, Parasol Superstars, Cookie Clicker, One Button Games 5-in-1 vol. 2, Maniac, Aureole – Wings of Hope, Copycat, The Night of the Rabbit, Narcissus, Y. Village – The Visitors.

Xbox Games Coming Out In May 2025

Doom, Elden Ring, & More

April was a great month for Xbox gamers, and its successor is also fantastic. Doom: The Dark Ages launched immediately on Game Pass, making id Software’s latest FPS onslaught available to as wide an audience as soon as possible. Even if Doom Eternal was somewhat more divisive than the 2016 reboot, Doom: The Dark Ages is still one of the most highly anticipated sequels of the year.

Cookie Clicker is arriving on consoles after more than a decade. Finally, the month ends with one of the more baffling multiplayer spin-offs in recent memory: Elden Ring Nightreign. Yes, FromSoftware is returning to the Lands Between for a standalone concept that appears to incorporate elements from the battle royale genre.

Xbox Games Coming Out In June 2025

System Shock 2, Tron, Raidou, & More

Although not overly stacked, the June 2025 Xbox games lineup does not look bad either. So far, the month is defined by mid-tier titles, at least in terms of hype and excitement. Arguably, the biggest releases are two remasters, with System Shock 2 and Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army dropping within roughly a week of each other. The former is an all-time great immersive sim, while the latter should be a good Atlus turn-based RPG.

FBC: Firebreak is an exciting prospect, particularly for people who are into Remedy’s Control and Alan Wake. Admittedly, the upcoming multiplayer shooter takes this universe in quite a different direction than normal, but Remedy tends to deliver quality.

Xbox Games Coming Out In July 2025

July 2025 is shaping up to be a pretty great month for the Xbox Series X/S, with the announced games covering quite an impressive range of genres. College Football 26 is a pretty big deal and will hopefully build on the success of its predecessor. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 should be a slam-dunk compilation since it contains two of the greatest extreme sports games of all time, and the previous remaster package was done well.

Edens Zero is somewhat surprising. The sci-fi shonen manga is relatively popular, but Edens Zero‘s open-world action JRPG adaptation came a bit out of nowhere. Konami is even handling the game. WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers has the potential to be among 2025’s best Soulslikes, and its Chinese mythology sets it apart from the crowd. Finally, Tales of the Shire should offer a unique experience set within the Lord of the Rings universe.

  • July 1: No Heroes Here 2 (XBXS, XBO)
  • July 10: EA Sports College Football 26 (XBX/S)
  • July 11: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 (XBXS, XBO)

Xbox Games Coming Out In August 2025

Metal Gear Solid, Madden, Demon Slayer, & More

August 2025 has some of the most exciting 2025 Xbox games, at least on paper. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is modernizing what is considered one of the greatest stealth masterpieces of all time, and Konami seems to be taking its time with the project.

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 should be a fun arena fighter, going by the quality of the first game. Madden NFL 26 is, well, Madden, so it will be a must-play for millions of players. Mafia: The Old Country should also be great, as the franchise has generally told fantastic stories.

Gearbox initially announced a September 23 release date, before announcing a move up to the 12th of the month.
