Some Walmart customers are reportedly having their Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders canceled without warning, with many taking to social media to report the unfortunate news. The Switch 2 will officially launch in just under one week, and while countless fans are beginning to celebrate, others are now suddenly left scrambling to secure a console before June 5.

The newest Nintendo console will improve upon its predecessor in numerous ways, with the Switch 2 boasting a larger screen, boosted frame rates, 4K support, and a whopping 256GB of storage space. The system’s highly anticipated GameChat feature will also allow players to share their screen and chat with friends during gaming sessions, opening up even more exciting possibilities for fans. Audiences won’t have to wait long for some major titles to become available for the brand-new system either, with Nintendo Switch 2 launch games including Mario Kart World, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, and Hogwarts Legacy.

Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Game Confirms Important Day 1 Update

One of the select few platform exclusives included in the Nintendo Switch 2 launch lineup is getting an important day-one update.

Unfortunately, while many fans are now waiting for their console to arrive on June 5, others are being met with terrible news in their email inbox. In a new Reddit post (spotted by Comicbook), user sonicpsycho reports that they received an email from Walmart stating that their Switch 2 pre-order was canceled due to an odd payment error. Comments quickly flooded in, with many others sharing that they had received the same notice despite payment not being an issue. One disappointed fan shared that Walmart’s technical team is reportedly trying to resolve the issue, though they have little faith that it will be fixed in time. Another user shared that, after calling Walmart Support, they were only offered a $15 gift card for their trouble. This isn’t the only retailer having an issue prior to the console’s release, as last week, UK retailer GAME canceled some Switch 2 pre-orders as well.

Walmart Seemingly Canceling Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders Out of Nowhere

While many fans who pre-ordered the new console from Walmart are now panicking ahead of launch day, Target will be selling Nintendo Switch 2 consoles online post-launch, limited to one per customer. The retailer will also have the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle for sale via the Target app or Target.com starting on June 6. Units will be available while supplies last, and those eager to snag a console are encouraged to hurry before they’re gone.

Curiously, Nintendo is struggling to meet Switch 2 supply in Japan, with over half of eager players reportedly not securing a console pre-order. The country initially utilized a lottery system, with winners announced on April 24, and those failing to be selected automatically entered into a second round.
