Verso’s Drafts Adds New Possibilities For E33 Team Composition, Especially For DPS Verso

Verso’s Drafts Adds New Possibilities For E33 Team Composition, Especially For DPS Verso

There are more than three characters in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, but players can only choose three to make a team with. The others can act as backups if the first team falls, but ultimately, players would want to make the best teams in Expedition 33 to defeat any enemies that block their way. Although the game started out simple, the possibilities for different builds and party setups became much larger later on, once the expeditioners can freely explore the Continent and its areas.

Players can experiment with different things, like using Lune as a DPS, using Monoco as a support, or abusing Sciel’s supportive skills to make a team that moves multiple times before the enemy. Itโ€™s not a coincidence that Lune is on most teams in this list. Her versatility and utility allow her to fit into any team in Expedition 33.

This best team comp in Expedition 33 article focuses on late-game builds for players to destroy difficult enemies, like those in the Endless Tower.

Updated on December 14, 2025, by Nahda Nabiilah: New equipment from Verso’s Drafts unlocks new playstyles, allowing support characters to take the lead in dealing damage, and DPS units to help from the background. With the new weapons and Luminas available, it’s important to update the list of the best teams in Expedition 33.

Lune + Maelle + Verso

Burning Team

While Verso barely has any skills that synergize with the Burn status, heโ€™s one of the best characters that apply Burn in Clair Obscur Expedition 33. Add Maelle and Lune, who both have a core gameplay with Fire and Burn, and players will build a strong Burn team in Expedition 33. This team focuses on single-target damage and can be slow during combat, but it prioritizes safety while enemies are slowly falling to Burn damage.

Verso

Verso in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Building Verso with Corpeso grants him the ability to install an enormous amount of Burn status on enemies using his Base Attack. Players can build an arsenal of Luminas that buff Versoโ€™s Base Attack, maximizing the utility of these hits. As for Versoโ€™s skills, itโ€™s better to have some sustain skills since players wonโ€™t use them as long as Verso is healthy and kicking.

Maelle

clair-obscur-expedition-33-maelle

Since Verso is the one whoโ€™s installing Burn, Maelle could be the one who takes advantage of it. Other than her Fire skills, Maelle has Burning Canvas, a Void attack that scales with the amount of Burn status on the target. To further increase the Burn utility, Maelle has Degagement, which makes enemies weak to Fire. She also has Medalum, a weapon that doubles the amount of Burn she applies and its damage.

Clair Obscur - Characters Standing Together

How To Level Up Fast In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Grinding out levels is a part of every RPG, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is no different. Here is how players can level up the quickest.

On the other hand, since this team wonโ€™t have a dedicated sustain character, nor someone who applies Shell for the team, itโ€™s good to build Maelle with Guard Up to increase her teamโ€™s sustainability.

Lune

Lune in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Considering Verso is responsible for applying Burn while Maelle will deal high damage because of it, Luneโ€™s job is to break enemies and double the amount of Burn on them. This will skyrocket the amount of Burn on enemies and the damage it deals. With her Earth skills, Lune is more than capable of handling this role while making sure everyone in the team is healed and protected.

Verso + Monoco + Sciel

Verso One-shot Team

monoco-sciel-and-verso-team-compostition-in-clair-obscur-expedition-33

In this team comp, instead of Verso dealing damage with his Base Attack and Burning damage, he’ll fully focus on his Steeled Strike, which charges for two turns. Monoco will set the field ready for Verso by applying his buffs and debuffs. On the other hand, Sciel takes the responsibility of increasing Verso’s damage and makes sure he plays more often. Meanwhile, every time it’s Verso’s turn, he’ll unleash one devastating Steeled Strike after another.

Verso

Verso in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

When Verso uses Licorum, Frenzy, and Double Third, they greatly increase the damage of his Steeled Strike skill. The weapons and Luminas absolutely take his strike to the next level and allow Verso to delete enemies during combat. In a perfect rotation, Verso should get his turn with 9 AP on the S Rank. Players can then cast Steeled Strike and charge it to the next turn, which is immediately after because of the Cheater Lumina.

In case Verso’s turn started and he didn’t have 9 AP or the S Rank, players can cast Overload, and that skill will refill Verso’s AP and maximize his Rank. Since Cheater is already a core Lumina for Verso, players can include a couple of other Luminas that take advantage of Verso getting back his turn. Clea’s Life, for instance, nullifies the price Verso pays when using the Overload skill.

Monoco

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Best Weapons For Monoco Ranked

The most important skill for Monoco in this team is the Boucheclier Fortify, as it will heavily buff their allies and fill their AP. It’s also important to make sure the wheel will always land on the Heavy Mask. That will trigger Esquiaro’s second effect and give all Monoco’s allies a shield. With Boucheclier Fortify and Esquiaro’s shields always active, Monoco can operate as a shielder in this team on top of everything else he’s doing.

Players also need a character that can apply Defenseless on enemies. Since Monoco’s weapon needs Base Attack to roll the wheel back to the Heavy Mask, players can add the Defenseless effect to Monoco’s Base Attack. You can also add the Hexga Crush skill, which will apply the Defeneless debuff on enemies for 3 to 5 turns.

Sciel

Sciel and Verso in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Sciel can deal decent damage, but that’s not why she’s here. The reason Sciel is in this E33 team is to double Verso’s damage and give him his turn immediately after, using Fortune’s Fury and Intervention skills. It’s important to make sure that Verso is faster than Sciel, so that she can give Verso his turn right after he finishes his.

Lune + Monoco + Sciel

Breaking Team

In this Expedition 33 breaking team, Lune and Monoco will work together to fill the enemiesโ€™ break bar while Sciel doubles Luneโ€™s damage, giving her the turn back. All three characters have sustainability, buffs, and debuffs within their kits, further increasing the teamโ€™s synergy.

Gustave and Maelle in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – Every Playable Character, Ranked

With six battle-ready characters, who among them reigns supreme in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

The teamโ€™s idea here is to keep enemies slowed and stunned until Lune builds enough power to erase them.

Lune

lune_clair_obscur_expedition_33
Lune from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Starting from Lune, she needs to set her Terraquake skill for Monoco to deal more break damage. After that, Lune needs to slow enemies using her Crippling Tsunami skill.

While sheโ€™s doing all that, her weapon, Scaverim, will build Dark Stains, a strong effect that greatly amplifies Luneโ€™s damage. Keep in mind, the weapon’s first effect generates Dark Stains every time Lune consumes her active Stains. After generating three Dark Stains, Lune wonโ€™t be able to generate a fourth one unless she can use a skill that consumes one Stain only, such as Electrify. After building four Dark Stains, which will be easy for Lune if the enemy is constantly slowed down, broken, and stunned, she can unleash an attack with insane damage that can one-shot everything in its path.

Monoco

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Lune Monoco and Verso

Monocoโ€™s build in this team comp is all about quickly breaking the enemyโ€™s bar. For that, equip skills like Ramasseur Bonk, Portier Crash, and Stalact Punches. On the other hand, players can still use Monoco to give the team a shield and Shell. Although Monocoโ€™s DPS will take a big hit in this build, theyโ€™ll still be able to fully protect the team by shielding them and stopping the opponent from launching attacks frequently.

Itโ€™s important to keep a rotation between Ramasseur Bonk and Boucheclier Fortify, as both skills will always move the Bestial Wheel pointer to the required Mask. If Monoco breaks an enemy Bar, Urnaro will switch Monoco into the Almighty Mask. Here, use Ramasseur Bonk, and Monoco will be at the Agile Mask again.

Sciel

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Lune and Sciel

As for Sciel, sheโ€™s responsible for increasing the teamโ€™s speed while maximizing Luneโ€™s damage. Not only that, with her Intervention, Lune will always play four turns per rotation, especially because of her Cheater Lumina. It gets addicting to see Sciel giving all this damage and turns to Lune in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

Lune + Maelle + Monoco

AoE Team

lune-maelle-and monoco team compostition in clair obscur expedition 33

The idea behind teaming Lune, Maelle, and Monoco together is to deliver as many AoE attacks as possible. These three characters can apply a lot of buffs and debuffs while delivering strong AoE hits. Not only that, but Maelle, Lune, and Monoco are all amazing at increasing the teamโ€™s survivability, which makes this team devastating in its offensive duties and rock solid in its defensive ones.

Lune

clair-obscur-lune

Lune has a lot of AoE skills, and she can heal the entire team, cleanse, or even revive. Players can build Lune with Crippling Tsunami and Elemental Genesis to carry her DPS while getting ready for her Sky Break every time the team gets three Gradient Charges. Lune should carry the Scaverimweapon to further maximize her damage when she collects four Dark Stains.

Maelle

Maelle attacking an enemy

Guard Downis one of the best debuffing skills in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Keeping enemies defenceless and increasing the teamโ€™s Critical Chance by 25% through the Critical Vulnerability Lumina is always going to be helpful during combat.

Lune Feature

Clair Obscur Expedition 33: Best Lune Weapons, Ranked

Players curious about the best weapons for Lune in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 may want to start with the following weapons.

Players can use Maelleโ€™s Phantom Strike every time sheโ€™s in her Offensive or Virtuose Stances to deal high damage while charging the teamโ€™s Gradient meter. Against bosses, Maelle can still deal incredible damage by using Pyrolyseand Sword Ballet.

Monoco

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Verso speaking with Monoco

Monoco’s skills are upgraded through the Bestial Wheel mechanics. In this Expedition 33 team comp, Monaco will have a rotation between Heavy Mask and Agile Mask skills. The Bestial Wheel pointer will always move between those two Masks. The main idea for Monocoโ€™s skills is to keep applying Boucheclier Fortify, which will Shell all allies and give the Powerful buff, which will trigger Monocoโ€™s Luminas that increase the teamโ€™s AP for applying Shell and Powerful. The pointer will then go to the Agile Mask. Use one of the two Agile Mask skills, and the pointer will always come back to the Heavy Mask.

If players didnโ€™t start on one of those two Masks, players can simply use either Sakapatate Fire or Orphelin Cheers to get back on them and start the rotation. Both of these skills are very useful and can deal a lot of damage.
