It will further expand to nine teams in 2026 and ten in 2027.
The inaugural season of the Women’s Domestic One Day will get started on April 23rd and will run till September 21st. Teams will compete first in the round robin format, where they face each other twice. The top 4 teams will advance to the semi-finals.
Warwickshire Women will clash against Hampshire Women in the 4th match on the opening day of the competition.

The preparations have gone exceedingly well for Warwickshire Women, who will host Hampshire Women at Edgbaston on Wednesday. The club will make history as they are part of the inaugural edition of the Women’s One Day Cup. The players are very excited about the new competition and are eagerly waiting to make an impact. Head Coach Ali Maiden is full of praise for the team, which performed well in the friendlies, winning 3 out of 4.
Georgia Davis has been appointed as skipper, and the side is well blended with the experience and fire of youth. Hannah Baker, Emily Arlott, and Katie George are the prominent players in the mix. Dutch signing Sterre Kalis, who caught attention in the warm-ups, is the player to watch. England International Issy Wong will miss the home action on Wednesday due to the ECB’s workload management advice.
Hampshire Women will begin the competition with an away trip to Birmingham, where they face Warwickshire. They have named a 14-member squad, led by experienced Georgia Adams. The side is buoyed by the availability of star England players Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, and Linsey Smith for the opening fixture.
They will miss the services of 20-year-old seam bowling all-rounder Freya Kemp, who is currently recovering from a back injury and will miss the first few games. Legendary Australian cricketer Ellyse Perry, who has signed for the club this season, will appear as the tournament progresses.
