The previous couple of patches introduced quite a lot of stealth changes and issues. The trend continued with the latest patch, when yet another issue was introduced. This time, the Helldivers 2 devs accidentally broke the AC-8 Autocannon, and it was in dire need of a fix. Well, it’s here!
What Was Wrong With the Autocannon?
At first glance, everything was just fine, it shot well, it was basically what all AC users were well-used to. However, the trouble came when you had to reload it. It jammed and became unusable.
One player, BRIIKSZ, showcased the problem in a YouTube short. As you can see, this player shoots, but once they reload, that’s it. The author of the video stated that teammates could reload you. However, some players noted that a team reload didn’t work every time.
Worry Not, Helldivers, the Devs Issued a Fix for the Autocannon
We’re always in awe when we see just how devoted the Arrowhead developers are. Once again, they proved they were actively listening to the community. On April 4, mere days after the patch broke the Autocannon, Helldivers 2 devs issued a fix.
Baskinator, the Community Manager, announced the hotfix on the official Helldivers 2 Discord channel. She noted: “Support incoming! We have issued an emergency hotfix for the Auto-Cannon! See patch-notes-updates for the complete patch note. Happy Helldiving”.

The patch note simply reads: “Fix for the Auto-Cannon reload bug, it now reloads as intended”. It’s all well that ends well, right? We surely hope this is the end of this saga, but the jury is still out. We’ll find out more after we’ve had a chance to test it ourselves.
So, dear Helldiver, enjoy the Autocannon, and join us for the current Major Order. After miraculously surviving J.O.E.L’s curveballs and liberating Popli IX, we all deserve a little change of pace. Meet us on Julheim? For Liberty and Super Earth.
