They’ve done it again! The Arrowhead developers managed to sneak in new enemies in the latest patch. Not only that, but it seems that the Helldivers 2 devs put a twist on a fan-made design of a Factory Strider Variant. Yes, we’re talking about the new convoy!
The New Factory Strider Variant Has a Stratagem Jammer on Its Back?
If you decided to spread Managed Democracy on the bot front, you might have noticed a new side objective, “Intercept the convoy”. In it, you need to destroy the convoy before it reaches its destination. Sounds easy enough, right?
Well, what if we told you the convoy was made up of Factory Striders, with some equipped with Strategy Jammers on their backs? If you haven’t had the chance to see the convoy yet, keeper909 made this great picture.
Even though it seems quite extreme, Helldivers are loving the new side objective! Sure, it’s horrifying, but it gives the botdivers that extra challenge they’ve been asking for. And, even though some players won’t admit it just yet, many noted that taking down the convoy was extremely fun.
Cheap-Ambition5336 stated: “My little brother and I managed to take a pack of these down yesterday, it was f**king awesome”. Another player, Microsoft_Mittens, jokingly added: “They do move in herds”.
Helldivers Have Seen This Design Before
Now, if you’ve been following the Helldivers 2 social media closely, the new Factory Strider variant might seem familiar. As it turns out, a fan suggested this concept back in October. Funnily enough, we even wrote about it in an article aptly titled: “Devs Better Not Get Ideas“.
The original creator, cougar_cat, shared the pictures of their design, and the in-game Factory Strider variant. They look quite similar. The OP noted: “Guys, what have I done? I’m not an automaton spy, I swear”.
The devs previously stated they frequently checked the Helldivers 2 communities, but it seems they draw ideas, too. Some players jokingly shared they hoped the devs didn’t see the idea for the flying Bile Titan. Now, that would be devious.
If you still haven’t had the chance to intercept the convoy, you can do so on the bot front. The upcoming cowboy-themed Warbond fits great with the convoy!
