What Is Station-81? Helldivers 2 Players Get to Solve the Mystery in the First-Ever Community ARG

Something is happening! The mysterious Station-81 appeared on May 8, and less than 24 hours later, it turned out to be an ARG (alternative reality game) organized by the Helldivers 2 developers. The hype for the Singularity Party is getting overbearing! Let’s see what’s going on.

What’s Happening With Station-81?

So, let’s catch you up! On May 8, a new page called Station-81 appeared on X. It seemed to be connected to Helldivers 2, but no one could tell if it was an official thing or just fan-made. It turned out to be official and a part of an ARG organized by the devs.

However, the bio is quite concerning. From it, the Helldivers learned that Station-81 was located in the Super Earth orbit, and that it was currently offline. So, the objective of the ARG? Activate Station-81.

At the time of writing this article, it’s been around five hours since the game started. The Station-81 account noted: “DATABLOCK RECALIBRATION REQUIRED”. The links for the YouTube live stream and the official Discord were provided alongside.

So, how do you play? The players can join in on the official Discord, where SATCOM#1 gives them commands that they need to input. Those commands then affect the YouTube live stream. At the time of writing this article, the players are working on aligning the Antenna of Station-82. the primary directives are to align Station-82, Station-83, and Station-84.

Helldivers 2 Players Expect a Lot From Station-81

Honestly, Helldivers will never learn. As you might be aware, the announcement of the next Warbond didn’t go so well. The devs may have overhyped it a bit, and the players had extremely high expectations. So, when the announcement dropped, the players lashed out and accused the devs of shrinkflation. However, mere hours later, the Station-81 ARG started, and the entire Helldivers 2 community is abuzz. Players speculate what awaits at the finish line.

Awkward_Ninja_5816 suggested the two most popular theories. They noted: “We need to solve codes and put together clues to reboot and relink satellites in the orbit of Super Earth, which will likely lead to teasers for the update on the 13th. Personal guess, invasion of Super Earth by the Illuminate is coming soon, maybe not on update day itself but some point during this story arc, and this seems to be hinting at that”.
