It’s another weekend, folks, hard-earned and hard fought for with hard work. It’s a time of relaxation and bliss, and what better way to achieve them than falling into 48 hours of unfiltered gaming?
A stacked weekend session
This weekend also encompasses one of my rest days. In between waiting for my inflammation to drop to manageable levels and the return to pumping iron, I’ll be pumping a lot of hours into countless games because wrists gotta get that workout too.
So, as EA has launched its second week of Battlefield 6, I’d be inconsiderate at the very least to miss it. Though I’ve burned out a bit on the game during its previous phase, it’s still fresh and exciting, and a place where I can spend a few hours without a worry in my mind.
But shooting at stuff or other players isn’t all the fun to be had this weekend.
No, I’m gunning for Titan Quest 2 and its fresh approach to ARPGs built upon the foundations of one of the genre’s best titles. Though a sequel to a 20-year-old game, it manages to capture that ARPG magic so many similar games failed to while maintaining a meaty, visceral, and grounded vibe.
The Forever Winter‘s many updates missed my attention, and it’s high time I came back to see what the devs did with it, and they did promise they’d do a lot even before the game came out. The reality: not a lot so far, but potential still exists, hopefully to be capitalized on down the line.
The crew’s picks are broad this week

Other than our FIDE-certified editorial legend, Luci Kelemen, sticking to his guns (chess) this weekend and every other weekend at that, the crew’s got a lot going on this time around.
Our ed-in-chief Rachel Samples is gunning for more guns in Battlefield 6, trying to find the long-lost comfy feeling of Battlefield 3 on its cramped little maps, while enjoying life catching small creatures in Pokémon GO. That isn’t the only Pokémon game in her repertoire this weekend, as nostalgia has started kicking in and brought Pokémon Black 2 to the table for this weekend’s meal.
Scott Duwe is still doing his best to keep his mind off Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, but nothing’s really scratching the itch like it, while Hadley Vincent is laser-focused on Cronos, being our resident Master of Horror.
Naturally, Madison Benson is keeping stuff cheery, simple, and at max fantasy, convincing her friends to come and join her in Stardew Valley for lots of wholesome adventures. Baldur’s Gate 3 is there, too, just to add a bit of zest and darkness to the mix (hopefully she’ll be going for a Dark Urge play through because, let’s be frank, that’s the only real way to play it).
But that’s enough about us, you hear from everyone here enough as is. Let’s talk about you, Destructoid. Whatcha gonna be playin’ this weekend, or the weekend after? What are you excited for that’s gonna be on your weekend menu down the line?
Let us know below, and, as always, have a fantastic weekend.
