What’s Going On With the Bile Titans? Helldivers 2 Players Explain the Strange Phenomenon

Everyone has been preoccupied with the news (or lack thereof) about a possible update. The players are hyped for the Warbond announcement and have quite high expectations for everything to come. However, some players noticed that something strange was happening in the game lately. Many Helldivers 2 noticed a bizarre phenomenon when the Bile Titans exploded. Have you noticed it?

Helldivers Think the Illuminate Might Be Behind the Bile Titans Phenomenon

If you haven’t encountered any Bile Titans lately, or this just hasn’t happened on your missions, you might be confused about what’s going on. Basically, when you hit a Bile Titan, the explosion is purple. Nothing else changes, but this is quite an effect.

One player, Eisenkonig, managed to capture an amazing shot on video. This player noted: “Anyone else see Bile Titans exploding purple recently? My guess is it’s a graphical error, but it would be interesting if the Illuminate have started pumping the bugs with Dark Energy”.

Obviously, the community is quite hyped for an update, so the idea of the Squids tampering with the bugs is quite exciting! Dazeuh stated: “The repulsive squids have seemingly mangled their vile DNA with the terminids, for what purpose we do not yet know. Go, Helldivers, stop them from doing… whatever it is they are doing, and defend our way of life”.

Some players insisted that this was to be expected. Kiom_Tpry said: “It was only a matter of time until the Illuminate started controlling the bugs and bots. If they can mind control the Citizens of Our Managed Democracy, how much easier it must be to control a bug”.

Um, Actually…

Unfortunately, if you’ve seen this phenomenon happen, you didn’t stumble upon freshly mutated Bile Titans in Helldivers 2. Nor did you ruin some poor Terminid’s gender reveal party. As it turns out, it is just a graphical error.

One player explained: “That’s not just any purple, that’s ‘missing texture magenta’. Definitely a graphical error”. They added: “… many engines show bright magenta when a texture is missing because it stands out and makes it really obvious to the developers that something is wrong”.

This tracks, given the purple question marks we’ve all seen at some point in the game. Maybe the Bile Titans just like munching on those question marks? We can’t say for sure, but we suppose the devs will fix this in the next patch.

So, dear Helldiver, while you marvel at the magenta explosions around Bile Titans, maybe you can help us out with the Major Order?
