It’s been almost a year since Helldivers 2 dropped. A lot has happened since, and players suspect a lot will happen in the days leading to February 8. Every new day raises the expectations in the community. As you know, the Meridia storyline has been unfolding excruciatingly slowly, and Helldivers 2 players are slowly losing their cool.
What’s Currently Going On With the Meridia Storyline?
At the time of writing this article, on February 3, a lot has already happened. Meridia has slowly been losing contact with the surrounding planets. Some players even organized watch parties, keeping an eye on the wormhole at all times.
On the evening of February 2, the final Warp Link to what was once Meridia was lost. Players worldwide held their breath in anticipation, but nothing happened. Then, some 15 hours later, an Intel Report arrived.
It noted: “Through careful analysis of available astronomical data, the Center of Science has successfully modeled the recent fluctuations in spacetime. Experts have long posited the existence of Dark Energy, a repulsive force permeating the universe and accelerating its expansion. By simulating sudden localized Dark Energy loss, the Center has been able to model spacetime fluctuations. The Center is currently exploring how this model maps onto recent Illuminate activity”.
Of course, the Illuminate are somehow involved in the entire story, but we don’t know how yet. There are some rumors that there will be a Special Event that will explain all of this. In the meantime, the Squids have been behaving even more suspiciously than usual. They’ve been disappearing and reappearing, and no one can understand why. Currently, they are attacking Hydrobius.
Helldivers 2 Players Are Anxious to See What Happens With the Meridia Wormhole
Of course, even though the Helldivers 2 devs are building suspense masterfully, some players have had enough and just want to see the Meridia storyline unfold. Don’t worry, though! No one is thinking of quitting the game. The majority of players are continuously checking on the wormhole, they are all ready to jump into action at the very sight of something happening.
While some Helldivers worried that we were cooked, one player, hege95, wholeheartedly accepted the situation. They stated: “Cooked? Well then, We’re gonna FIGHT as long as there’s some undercooked meat or tendon left. And, after that, the Bug, The Bot, and The Squid will have to have their meat WELL DONE and maybe choke on us chewy b*stards”.
So, remember, even if something horrifying happens, you can always count on your fellow Helldivers. Now, in the meantime, while we wait for all hell to break loose, why not go to Menkent? We hear it’s quite a party over there, and the DSS has been incredible. For Liberty and Super Earth.
