Your Energy Cell is used whenever you try to power a Zonai contraption you put together yourself in Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom. There’s a lot of flexibility in the kinds of devices you can create, ranging from combat-oriented ones to others meant just for transportation.
Upgrading your Energy Cell will allow these devices to go for longer without the need for additional batteries. Your Energy Cell can be upgraded at either of the two Crystal Refineries throughout Hyrule, and once upgraded, those additional Energy Wells are here to stay. Where To Find Both Crystal Refineries In Tears Of The Kingdom
There are two Crystal Refineries in Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, with the first being on the Great Sky Island where the tutorial takes place. If you’re further in the game, you’ll be able to see Nachoyah Shrine in the southern section of the island, which you can fast travel to at any time. If you have yet to discover this location and are just starting the game, keep progressing the main objective, and it’ll bring you here. From the Shrine, simply look straight ahead and you’ll see the Refinery.
The second Crystal Refinery is also easy to find, as it’s right outside of Lookout Landing. Take the northern exit of Lookout Landing heading to Hyrule Castle and look along the right side of the road. There will be a stone structure on top of larger stones sticking out of the ground. These stones can easily be climbed without any boosts in Stamina, so you can make it to the top and to the Refinery at any point in the game.

How To Use Crystal Refineries In Tears Of The Kingdom
Crystal Refineries are used to add additional Energy Wells to your Energy Cell. This will cost 100 Crystallized Charges for each Energy Well upgrade, with three Energy Wells making up an additional battery icon. It doesn’t matter which Refinery you choose to use; the cost and upgrade are the same, so it just comes down to which location is more convenient.
How To Get Crystallized Charges In Tears Of The Kingdom
Crystallized Charges are purchased at Zonaite Forges by trading 
Zonaite. Zonaite Forges operate the same as a store, and you will need to replenish their inventory if you’ve stocked up on a lot of Zonaite and want to buy as many Crystallized Charges as possible. After visiting a Zonite Forge, head back to the Crystal Refinery to use however many you purchased to get additional Energy Wells.
