  • Xbox booth at Gamescom LATAM to showcase 13 diverse indie games, including unique RPGs and shooters.
  • Xbox Discovery Day offers developer sessions on publishing, marketing, and tips for success on Xbox platforms.

Xbox has officially confirmed that it will participate in Gamescom LATAM, the upcoming games industry trade fair. An extension of the Europe-based Gamescom show, Gamescom LATAM will take place from April 30 to May 4, 2025 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Even before the decline and eventual death of E3 in 2023, Gamescom was already known as the biggest gaming event in the world. The main Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany hosted more than 1,400 exhibitors and saw more than 335,000 people visit. Thanks in part to its being partially open to the public, the show has grown every year, dwarfing similar trade shows like the Tokyo Game Show and even E3 at its height.

The 13 indie games confirmed to participate in Gamescom LATAM via the Xbox booth run the gamut of interesting and diverse game types. Meanwhile, Keylocker is a turn-based cyberpunk RPG with a combat system that takes notes from beloved classics like Super Mario RPG. Take Us North is a narrative adventure that tackles real-life issues by focusing on the plight of migrants attempting to cross the US-Mexico border. The art style of Mark of the Deep brings to mind the hit action roguelike Hades, but its gameplay sets itself apart with a bold blend of Souls-like and Metroidvania inspirations.

Besides having playable games, Xbox’s Gamescom LATAM booth will also feature developer-oriented programming, in the form of Xbox Discovery Day. Xbox positions the program as a “day of learning” for creators, who can choose to attend three sessions showcasing tips, tricks, and advice on how developers can succeed on Xbox platforms, including publishing and marketing best practices. The Xbox Day of Discovery talks are open to all Gamescom LATAM attendees. ID@Xbox will also have two keynote sessions aimed at indie developers. The first will feature Chris Charla, General Manager of Content and Dev Readiness at Microsoft, while the second will feature Guillaume Provost, CEO of Compulsion Games, which developed the highly anticipated action game South of Midnight.

Xbox is looking to have a substantial presence at Gamescom LATAM this year, highlighting the importance of the Latin American scene to the gaming industry at large. As for Gamescom itself, the success of Gamescom LATAM and Gamescom Asia promises to make the brand an even more important one when it comes to considering game industry events.
