“Your infidelity will no longer be broadcasted to everyone as it happens” declares Crusader Kings 3’s latest patch, unless you made a baby at a certain time

No one can find out about this, my forbidden love. I am the esteemed holy ruler of these lands, the people look to me for strength and honour. What do you mean ‘well, you might have thought about that before we used the bedchamber with the camera in it that livestreams to the castle’s big TV’? Ah, I’m ruined. Or, at least I would have been prior to the deployment of Crusader Kings 3’s latest patch.

“Your infidelity will no longer be broadcasted to everyone as it happens,” announce the notes for this patch, which takes aim at issues with the 1.19 update Paradox recently rolled out. “It’s the Middle Ages, not a Coldplay concert.”

There is a catch, though. The devs note that pregnancies which began in version 1.19.0.4 of the strategical shagging game will still trigger the issue. So, if you’ve already put a bun in the oven out of wedlock, your dirty laundry might still be scandalously aired in public. The safe option, of course, is not to be a ruler that slings their crown jewels around the entire court, but that’s tough to stick to if there are no good wars or rebellions to occupy you at any given moment.

Outside of that key fix, Paradox have also made sure that “the Iberian Dominance ending can no longer be repeated infinitely for unlimited renown”, the legendary hunt story cycle will kick off as it should when you set off on a legendary hunt, and “characters at their concubine limit can now offer concubines to other characters”.

That concubine fix looks like the ideal sidekick to the adultery one. After all, it’s hard to deny you’re getting up to dodgy bedroom stuff when your room’s full of a concubine crowd who’re making it tough for anyone to squeeze through the door. On the other hand, perhaps the mass of people could form a useful modesty screen…

Either way, it’s probably good that this has all been straightened out ahead of CK3 letting folks loose as holy rulers.
