CD Projekt Red’s new mystery IP ‘Hadar’ is “an emotional, open-world experience” in line with the developer’s Witcher and Cyberpunk games

We’ve known about Hadar, CD Projekt Red’s new franchise, for a few years now, but it wasn’t until March 2026 the studio “established the foundations” of what it’s actually going to be. With only promises and a codename, little is known about its nature, but another nugget of info has just surfaced.

A job ad (hat tip to GamesRadar) for an engineering director for Hadar has popped up on CD Projekt Red’s own open positions page, and it explicitly describes the project as another open-world game: “In this position, together with the rest of the team, you will help push the envelope for the next, immersive game in the Hadar world, creating an emotional, open-world experience that will stay with gamers.”

Of course, that reads like the most generic possible description of what a CDPR project is, and that’s the point. Hadar is still in the early stages of development, with only 26 people working on the project at the end of February this year. There are more job listings linked to Hadar available at the time of writing, which suggests the developer is now getting ready to ramp up work on the prototypes and “specific elements” that may or may not end up in the game.

“We are creating multiple prototypes and implementing them directly in Unreal Engine. This allows us to live-test and verify how selected mechanics and gameplay elements can perform,” joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski said back in March.

It might be a while before we hear anything about Hadar again, but so far, it sounds like CDPR will be sticking to what it does best, at least on a basic level. For now, we have a new Witcher 3 expansion, The Witcher 4, and Cyberpunk 2 to look forward to.
