Ah, Guard Dogs! They’re all good boys (or girls)! Even though they are quite helpful most of the time, they can sometimes get you in quite a pickle. Some Helldivers 2 players have recently noticed an interesting, yet deadly, mechanic, apparently, Guard Dogs don’t get along with Tesla Towers.
Don’t Deploy Guard Dogs in the Vicinity of Tesla Towers
The Second Galactic War has been quite messy, especially recently. The Battle for Super Earth and fighting in mega cities changed the gameplay. Bullets and various beams are flying everywhere you look, and something vicious awaits around every corner.
Well, some players noticed that even your trusty Guard Dog K9 could be fatal for you. If it’s deployed when you stumble upon a Tesla Tower, you’ll be zapped immediately. However, if you holster it, or go without it, you’ll be fine.
One player, AODubz, noticed and tested out this phenomenon. They posted a video showing they were killed time after time when they deployed the GD K9. The OP wondered: “Is this intentional? Enemy Tesla zaps me while I’m prone/diving only when my GD K9 is out. Haven’t checked the other Guard Dogs. Has this always been here?”.
Helldivers 2 Players Are Shocked by This Mechanic
Obviously, this came as a shock to many, as the majority of Helldivers 2 players haven’t noticed that Tesla Towers were that reactive to Guard Dogs. Naturally, the players praised their fellow Helldiver for being so observant.
One player, sus_accountt, exclaimed: “I KNEW I WASN’T FU**ING INSANE! Literally happened to me yesterday, I had conduit armor so nothing happened, but I was like tf?? I’m on the ground, how is it shooting me????”.
Of course, there were some players who claimed this has always been a feature. One player, gnagniel, stated: “Pretty sure this has always been the case. I know diver-deployed Teslas can proc off of guard dogs and to my knowledge always have”.
Truth be told, with all the chaos on the battlefield, we were blissfully unaware of this mechanic until now. So, dear Helldiver, holster your Guard Dog near Tesla Towers.
