Kojima’s Smiling – Death Stranding 2 Reviews Deliver the Reception He Hoped For

Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2 was released only a few days ago, and is praised by everyone, and the man behind the project is not hiding the fact that he’s very happy about the general reception.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is the sequel to Kojima’s groundbreaking 2019 game, developed by Kojima Productions and powered by Guerrilla Games’ Decima engine (the engine they use for the Horizon games). DS2 was released just a few days ago on June 28, 2025, as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, with the rest of the gaming community hoping for a PC and Xbox ports in the near future. And the reception of the game is stellar, with people praising the gameplay, the stunning visuals, and Kojima’s signature weirdness, and Kojima himself says that he’s very happy about it.

Kojima’s Recent Interview Reveals That He’s More Than Happy With the Reception of Death Stranding 2

Kojima Productions is having a world tour to talk about Death Stranding 2, and on July 1, they were in London, where the event was hosted by none other than Geoff Keighley. Naturally, they talked about the game, and after being asked, “How does it feel to have the game out there?” Kojima answered in his signature manner:

“Well, it was [well] evaluated, I’m happy with the scores. Thank you.”

After that, Mr. Keighley stated that the game is finally released and that people are enjoying it right now. To which, Kojima added: “Yes, I know everyone is playing the game. I made it so you can play in various ways.”

The interview continues with appearances from both Norman Reedus and Léa Seydoux, who reveal that, despite his signature half-cocky image, Kojima went above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable when working on the game. In any case, Kojima continues to show why he is one of the most popular gaming developers of today, with this mix of bravado and true humility..
