A few days after one of the biggest Nintendo Switch 2 releases of the year, we have our first big Nintendo Switch 2 Edition release (that wasn’t out during launch) in the long-named Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV.
With the game out today, critics have been casting their judgment on the game, including us over at Destructoid, so as usual, we have put together a list of some reactions from across the internet to see what everyone thinks about it.
Super Mario Party Jamboree remains a solid game, and I feel like Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV is a natural pick-up for families. If someone is in a home with multiple players who own both Switch or Switch 2 systems, it could be great for game nights.
Our friends once again at Siliconera gave the game a respectable 80/100, highlighting it as a natural pick-up, while warning those who try to play both versions together won’t be able to experience the full magic.
Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV gives an already fantastic party game a huge shot in the arm, with a bunch of brilliant Mouse Mode and mic-based games that also allow you to see your big silly face as you play.
Nintendolife has been singing the game’s praises by giving it a 9/10, calling it an easy-to-use delight for the whole family, packed with content. Though they lament the loss of Pro Play as an option in the new version.
Jamboree TV offers some more and varied uses of the Switch 2’s unique features with a charming game show format that will be fun for breaking out at parties. Its new content, however, doesn’t integrate with the base game and makes for an awfully pricey package if you don’t already own the original game.
Not everyone is in high spirits, though, with TechRadar in particular giving it a 5/10, saying that while the game is charming, its new content doesn’t integrate with the base game, making it a pricey package.
Super Mario Party Jamboree is still the best entry in the series, but the new content of the Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV re-release adds frustrating limitations and strange design decisions to what was otherwise a polished, customizable experience. Its camera-focused content is pretty forgettable
IGN has hit a middle ground, giving it a 7/10, citing frustrating limitations and strange decisions to what was already a polished experience.
A solid game with the benefits of the original, with the added incentive of having new modes and options to play. Super Mario Party Jamboree Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV is the definitive version of the game and is a perfect game to pick up if you didn’t get the original on Switch.
And last but not least. We at Destructoid gave the game an 8.5/10 and felt it had a few gimmicks that didn’t warrant a full pickup if you already had the Switch 1 version, but still felt it was a solid title overall.
