The Illuminate in Helldivers 2 just received two void-born enemies that are going to present a new challenge, perhaps one equal to the Vox Engines from the Automatons! The Crusher and the Wretch are the new enemy units that the Illuminate have up their sleeve, and one is going to constantly (slowly) pursue you while regenerating health, and the other is a nightmarish creature of lethal stabbing limbs. Below, we’ll share how you can put these creatures down and spread democracy without delay!
How to Beat the Crusher in Helldivers 2
The Crusher is a gigantic fleshmob-like enemy that will regenerate health if you stop shooting at it. Basically, the Crusher is a bullet sponge. It’s going to take a lot of damage to get the Crusher down, because any wasted moment (like running or reloading) is going to allow the Crusher to regenerate its health.
Crushers are incredibly strong, but they do have a glaring weakspot. Focus Heavy Pen on their heads so that you can reveal their flesh head under the helmet. It might take a while to expose the Crusher’s head under the helmet, but this is their weak spot.
Outside of shooting their helmets off, just try to sustain fire with Strategems and your fellow Helldivers. These are enemy units you aren’t going to want to tackle alone, and thankfully, they are slow enough that you can just keep moving and avoid them. Their only method of attack is a giant hammer that they can slam down to instantly kill you with, so keep your distance, maintain fire, and spread democracy through Illuminate deaths!
How to Beat the Wretch in Helldivers 2
The Wretch is a smaller unit for the Illuminate, and they come in droves, unlike the single-target Crusher. The Wretch is an enemy that’s always on the move and is incredibly quick, much like a Terminid. To defeat the Wretch, you need to shoot the limbs and ignore the head (much like the Necromorphs in Dead Space).
The Wretch is incredibly fast, so you’re going to want to keep your distance, but if it gets too close, try to use something fast and effective like a shotgun so that you can quickly blast off the Wretch’s limbs to both immobilize and kill it. The head is not a weak spot; it’s a decoy, so make sure you’re focusing on the arms and legs!
