Another Injustice 3 leak reveals two characters in the rumoured DC fighting game – one that’s expected and one that’s a big surprise

We now have even more confirmation a new Injustice game is in development. Following last week’s playtest leak, information has emerged that sheds more light on the upcoming DC fighting game.

Two characters from the game’s roster of fighters have appeared on the resume of a stunt worker who previously worked with developer NetherRealm. As reported by MP1st, the resume for Mackensi Emory included direct references to Injustice 3, though it has since been updated to remove all mention of the game.

The stunt worker was part of motion capture sessions for Injustice 3, specifically portraying the characters Supergirl and Batwoman. Supergirl’s appearance is expected, given her central role in Injustice 2’s narrative, but Batwoman is a surprise.

Not only will this be Batwoman’s first appearance in an Injustice game, but her arrival is all the more notable because in the world of Injustice, she’s dead; at least, Batwoman is dead according to the official comic books, which are considered canon. Indeed, as MP1st points out, the comics and the games frequently reference one another so it would be strange for the third game to break from that continuity.

How could this work? Well, a dead comic book character revival isn’t impossible in the world of superheros, and it’s possible a different person could have taken up Batwoman’s mantle – a common way for comic books to bring a character back.

It’s also worth noting that the upcoming game may not be a continuation of the events of the two prior games at all, and could act as a timeline reset, featuring new versions of the iconic DC characters.

Beyond that, Emory’s resume also confirmed animator and stunt coordinator Jake Huang’s involvement in the project, who previously worked with NetherRealm on Mortal Kombat 1.

Injustice 3 hasn’t been announced yet and there’s no known release date, but given NetherRealm’s previous development pacing, we expect a new Injustice game could arrive in 2027 (the last NR game being 2023’s MK1). Would a reveal at December’s Game Awards make sense, in this case? We shall wait and see.
