Final Fantasy Resonance has multiple party members and Visions to choose from over the course of the game. All the available combinations can be overwhelming. Some characters, like Fina, can be pretty straightforward, especially in the beginning. Other characters, like Lid, are so versatile that you can use almost anything. This guide will go over the best party and Vision combinations in Final Fantasy Resonance to provide a smooth experience from beginning to end.
Best Early Game Party and Vision Combinations (Chapters 1–3)
There are not too many options in the first few chapters, but there are still some ideal setups once you have access to a full party and multiple Visions to choose from.
- Rain – Warrior of Light (WoL) Vision
- Fina – Leah Vision
- Lid – Terra Vision
- Lasswell – Cloud Vision
Rain in Early Game
Rain’s best role stays pretty similar throughout the whole game. He is great at soaking up damage and drawing the enemy’s attention. The WoL Vision should be the first priority, mainly for the Multi-Cover ability. This allows Rain to take the attacks of all allies during the turn he uses it.
Since Rain can get high HP, physical defense, and magic defense, he can usually survive multiple hits in a single turn. This also means you can usually just heal Rain instead of worrying about the entire party.
When not leveling WoL, Rain can work on Tronn, Cloud, or Terra if nobody else is currently using them.
Fina in Early Game
Fina’s main job will always be healer, but she can also dish out some magic damage early on. Leah should be the Vision to focus on at the beginning, since it provides extra healing and support.
Terra, Tronn, and Onion Knight are good Visions to use when not using Leah because of the additional magic attacks.
Lid in Early Game
Lid works as a flexible attacker in early game. She does not have a ton of mechabo abilities at this point, but they can still be useful if you need physical Earth elemental damage.
Since you will mostly use Lasswell in the team early on, taking advantage of magic damage for Lid is the best option. The Terra vision gives access to strong spells that cover most weaknesses, with Onion Knight, Tronn, or Zidane as good alternatives if you need specific elements.
Lasswell in Early Game
Lasswell excels in stagger and physical ice damage. Early game, Lasswell works more like a physical attacker with high stagger damage. His Hone Senses buff will also raise his crit rate, which makes Cloud a great Vision option in the early game.
The extra crit, stagger, speed, and additional physical elemental damage work perfectly for Lasswell’s kit. Cloud also has Libra, so you can analyze enemies if Fina needs to heal, or is not using Leah.
Best Mid-Game Party and Vision Combinations (Chapters 4–6)
Things open up a bit more, especially in Chapter 5 when you can travel around on an airship. Most of the game takes place during these chapters, so you’ll spend most of your Vision leveling here.
Rain – Cecil/Wlhelm Visions
Nichol – Y’shtola Vision
Jake – Vaan Vision
Sakura/Lid – Victoria/Shantotto Visions
Rain in Mid-Game
Still tanking, but this time Rain has more Vision options. Cecil provides additional defense, Dark elemental attacks, and the ability to counter magic attacks.
Wilhelm is the ultimate Sentinel Vision. He provides a lot of HP, draws attention, and heavily reduces damage taken. Rain will want to have the Sentinel visions maxed so he can use the Spirit of each one as an ability.
Nichol in Mid-Game
Even though Fina is still the best healer, Nichol can work as well. Nichol’s Formation buffs can be very strong, so it is great to use him as both healer and buffer. Y’shtola provides some strong healing for both single and all party members.
Nichol’s Tactic: Fluid Warfare allows him to use an additional action for 3 turns when he uses a Formation skill. This lets Nichol buff and heal in the same turn. He can also use Leah as a Vision to provide healing.
Jake in Mid-Game
Jake is a pure physical damage dealer, and there are multiple options that work for him. Vaan is a wonderful Vision to have on your team throughout most of the game because of his Resonance, True Pyroclasm. This deals Fire physical damage to all enemies, and it is guaranteed to steal from affected targets. There are several enemies with rare stealable items, so being able to get those will help tremendously.
Besides that, Jake can deal strong Wind, Lightning, and non-elemental physical damage. His luck mechanic allows him to deal big damage, but also provides utility with skills like Camouflage and Hide. Camouflage will stop an ally from being targeted for 3 turns. Hide guarantees a critical hit for the first attack after reappearing.
Sakura and Lid in Mid-Game
Sakura is a fantastic magic damage dealer with strong self-buffs to deal high amounts of damage. She can also remove enemy buffs with Magicide if you don’t have someone with Dispel.
Shantotto is a strong magic damage Vision with the ability, Dualcast. This lets Sakura cast two black or white magic spells in a single turn. Victoria is another good magic damage Vision that also provides increased MRP gain and drop rate.
Lid is used before you unlock Sakura, but can also deal high damage and stagger when she unlocks the Overclock mechabo abilities.
Best Late Game Party and Vision Combinations (Chapters 7–8)
Towards the end of Final Fantasy Resonance is where players have a ton of options that work. There are many combinations that will do great, but below is one of the best when you have most Visions maxed out and are high enough level.
You will also want to have Terra’s “Break the Limit” ability on several people to raise the damage cap from almost 10k to almost 100k.
- Lid – Wilhem Vision (Sentinel Spirit abilities)
- Fina – Ayaka Vision
- Archwitch Fina – Amelia or Sephiroth vision
- Nichol – Shantotto or Terra Vision/Lasswell with Sephiroth Vision
Similar to the suggested team to beat Ultima, this late-game team can cover almost anything.
Lid in Late Game
When Lid has access to all mechabo abilities, especially the Mechamog Scan, she becomes one of the best characters in the game. Rain is still the best tank, but Lid can get the job done and use her Mechabo abilities.
At this point, she focuses on physical damage because with Overclock Zero, her Mechabo attacks are very strong. If Lid has her Chocobo Nitro accessory, she also inflicts a random debuff on the target when using Mechabo skills. This helps a lot when using Archwitch Fina in the team.
Fina in Late Game
Fina is still the ultimate healer, but now she has access to the amazing Ayaka vision. Ayaka has exceptional healing, increases buff duration, charges LB on heal, and has Hi Regen to apply Regen to everyone at once. Ayaka also has Esunaga, so you can cure the entire party of status ailments in a single turn.
Even though Ayaka can do pretty much everything except group revive, Fina can do that with her level 2 limit break. For the best healing in the game, nothing comes close to Fina with the Ayaka Vision.
Archwitch Fina in Late Game
If you can get multiple debuffs on an enemy, Archwitch Fina will absolutely destroy anything in the game. She can apply several debuffs with abilities like Distress, Allure, and Deshell. The Aggravation ability from Zidane gives up to a 60% damage increase based on the number of debuffs on the target.
Archwitch Fina also has Witching Hour, which increases all of her attributes by 50%, but she can no longer heal from White Magic spells. This tradeoff is worth it, considering how much damage she deals. She can still be healed by potions, and sometimes it is better to just let her die and revive her with Arise, or apply Reraise before death.
She also gets Ultima and Meteor just from leveling. When all else fails, using Dualcast on Ultima can usually deal an enormous amount of damage each turn.
Nichol in Late Game
Nichol’s Formation buffs help the team in several ways, just like in mid-game. This time, he is only used for buffing and occasional magic damage.
Shantotto and Terra just provide additional damage options in-between his buffs. Shantotto’s Dualcast allows Nichol to use up to 3 actions if he has his Tactic: Fluid Warfare active because he can use a Formation buff, then use two spells with Dualcast.
Lasswell in Late Game
Lasswell is another option instead of Nichol if you want strong physical damage. By this point in the game, Lasswell has access to so much crit, that he will usually get a critical hit with every attack. Sephiroth is the best because he increases attack stats by a lot and adds additional crit rate. His Legendary SOLDIER ability also allows all of Sephiroth’s abilities to scale off the higher attack stat, either physical or magic.
