Black Clover is an iconic series from Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump by Yuki Tabata. As one of the hottest manga of the 2010s, this series quickly received an anime adaptation in 2017 by the famed Studio Pierrot. Initially, this anime adaptation was nothing out of the ordinary, but it still greatly popularized the series and made it a global phenomenon.
Sadly, in 2021, the Black Clover anime went on hiatus. On October 3, 2026, Black Clover is officially returning with Season 2. While we all assumed that Black Clover Season 2 wouldn’t be the end of the series, new official reports confirm that Black Clover Season 2 Cour 2 is titled “Final Season,” confirming the end of the franchise in 2027.
Black Clover Season 2 Part 2 Is Labelled “The Final Season”
Black Clover received its anime adaptation on October 3, 2017. The studio behind Black Clover, Studio Pierrot, is the same juggernaut behind many other hits, including Naruto and Bleach. Sadly, the anime had to go on hiatus in 2021 because of a lack of manga content to adapt — an issue stemming from Yuki Tabata’s own health problems. Nevertheless, on September 3, 2026, it was announced that Black Clover Season 2 will officially premiere on October 3, 2026, with a simultaneous release on Crunchyroll.
Black Clover Season 2 is now days away from debuting, but there is still much we don’t know about this new installment. For one, until today, we didn’t know exactly what Black Clover Season 2 would cover. While the Spade Raid Arc was always guaranteed to be included, we didn’t know what would come next. Now, based on the latest reports, we know that this new season is projected to span over 26 episodes. Even more importantly, the new reports confirm that Black Clover Season 2 will be split into two cours. While the first cour will cover the events for the Spade Raid, the second part is titled “The Final Season” and is set to mark the end of the series.
This new report was officially published on September 26, 2026. With Black Clover Season 2 Part 2 being called the final season, it appears that 2027 will mark the end of Yuki Tabata’s animated story as a whole. Judgment Day, Black Clover’s final arc, is now set to be covered in the upcoming installment. This has, of course, caused great panic among fans of the series. After waiting for 5 years, Black Clover fans want an adequate adaptation of their manga, and while we want great animation, we also can’t stress enough how important good pacing is.
Black Clover Is Set To Conclude In 2027 With Its Final Arc
Black Clover Season 2 is starting in just a week, on October 3, 2026. As recently announced, Black Clover Season 2 isn’t going to be released all at once. Instead, the upcoming installment will be split into two cours. The first cour is the one debuting on October 3, and it is set to continue the Spade Raid arc. In this arc, some of Black Clover’s biggest fights are about to unfold as our main cast rushes in to rescue Yami. Based on recent reports, it appears that Black Clover Season 2 Part 1 is going to span over 13 episodes. If there are no breaks in between, then Black Clover Season 2 Part 1 should conclude around January 2, 2027.
Meanwhile, for Black Clover Season 2 Part 2, labelled “The Final Season,” we have yet to receive an official release date. All that we know from Studio Pierrot is that this upcoming part will be released sometime in 2027. Part 2 could start just a couple of weeks after Part 1, or it could take a couple of months before it finally airs. Since the Black Clover manga ended recently, on May 1, 2026, it could be the latter, as Studio Pierrot would require more time to adequately animate and bring to life the finale of the story. Either way, with Black Clover Season 2 Part 2 being called the finale, we now know that the series is ending in 2027.
Judgment Day, Black Clover’s final arc, will finally see Asta and Yuno face their greatest challenge yet. As things stand, there are over 120 chapters of Black Clover that need to be adapted into the anime. An anime of 26 episodes can realistically adapt around 100 chapters while delivering well-paced content. For Black Clover to adapt 122 chapters in 26 episodes seems like a daunting task and means that, more likely than not, some content will unfortunately be cut out and rushed.
Black Clover’s Future After Season 2
Black Clover’s manga is already over. Yuki Tabata concluded the series on May 1, 2026, in Jump GIGA’s Spring Edition, with the release of its last chapter, Black Clover Chapter 392. With the manga over, the anime is all that fans have left. Fans had anticipated one more animated season to come after Season 2. However, the chances for that are practically none at the moment. Black Clover season 2 could very well be the final project of the Black Clover series, and it would bring to an end its 12-year run.
We could still see minor projects released even after the end of the anime. In August 2026, we received a Black Clover guidebook, titled Perfect Grimoire, and we’re anticipating a new artbook that’s set to be released in November 2026. There could be further projects in store for fans in 2027 and beyond. There are also many fans who strongly believe that Black Clover, after Season 2, may get an animated movie to actually conclude the series. While Black Clover Season 2 could be the final TV installment, the series could have one more theatrical release in store to bring the final battle to life in theaters, as has been done by series like Demon Slayer.
At the moment, there is no explicit confirmation or hint about that happening. It’s hard to say what exactly Studio Pierrot has in store for Asta and Yuno. In either case, it is clear that the industry has pivoted greatly. Japanese animation studios have started focusing more on theatrical releases due to the insane financial incentives behind them. In part, the shift started with Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1. For Black Clover, there would be no more sensational way to conclude the series than with a theatrical release, and it’s definitely a strong possibility to keep in mind.
More information about the fate of Black Clover should be revealed as Season 2 Part 2 gets closer. For now, we should simply enjoy the return of Black Clover to TV after a 5-year-long wait.
