Sasuke Uchiha is the deuteragonist of the original Naruto series, whom Masashi Kishimoto wrote to be just as important as the protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki himself. For years, Sasuke Uchiha went on an incredible, compelling journey, which saw him turn from Naruto’s best friend to one of his biggest enemies, and in the end, his friend again, who would even lay his own life on the line.
In the Boruto era, Sasuke’s character has been quite divisive. While he has certainly grown strong, Sasuke’s original redemption arc from the Naruto franchise has taken quite a hit, with the character being perceived as a villain by the entire ninja world once again. Following the events of Omnipotence, Sasuke’s character arc has seen him become hated by the entire ninja world, and his redemption journey, which Kishimoto penned with great care, has also been undone, ruining his character to a certain degree.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Confirms Sasuke’s Degraded Image In The Ninja World
Sasuke Uchiha’s character arc was quite chaotic in the Naruto series. When he was first introduced to us in Naruto Chapter 2, on October 11, 1999, it was quite clear that he was going to be important in the grand scheme of things. Sasuke’s role grew beyond our imaginations when he ended up leaving Konoha and became Naruto’s primary motivation to grow stronger, even above becoming Hokage. The Naruto series finally concluded with the battle of Naruto and Sasuke, which the Uchiha eventually lost in chapter 698 on November 1, 2014. Following this battle, Sasuke dedicated his entire life to supporting Naruto Uzumaki, hoping to create the world that the yellow-haired ninja envisioned.
Over the next decade, Naruto and Sasuke kept the vast majority of the dangers that threatened the world at bay and put their lives in danger on countless occasions. By doing so, Sasuke also redeemed himself for all the evil acts that he committed following the death of Itachi Uchiha and his descent into an evil madness. The Boruto series has made it quite clear that Sasuke has done more than enough to be redeemed. Yet the latest twist in the story has seen him being hated once again. In Boruto chapter 80, released on April 20, 2023, it was officially confirmed to us that Sasuke Uchiha acted against the wishes of Konoha and protected Boruto Uzumaki.
At this point, Boruto was seen as the killer of the Seventh Hokage and a target to be eliminated immediately. Sasuke saving him and then fleeing the village made everyone assume that he was in on the death of the Seventh Hokage, especially given their rivalry in the past. Sasuke was seen as a massive traitor. On August 20, 2026, the extra info published in V-Jump Issue #10 saw Mikio Ikemoto confirm that both Sarada Uchiha and Sakura Haruno suffered tremendous ridicule in Konoha during the timeskip due to Sasuke’s actions. Konoha absolutely despises both Sakura and Sarada for being connected to Sasuke and considers them traitors to the whole village. In other words, all the image that Sasuke had built for all these years has now come crumbling down.

A: Sumire, who likewise escaped the effects of Omnipotence, deliberately tried to avoid conspicuous words and actions, but Sarada held nothing back and continued telling people the truth exactly as it was. On top of that, with her father Sasuke having left the village together with Boruto, she must have faced extremely harsh treatment from those around her. There were probably things like graffiti on the walls of her house and slander directed at her. To begin with, even before the Omnipotence incident, there were already a certain number of people who thought poorly of Sasuke. Her mother Sakura must have gone through a difficult time as well, but like Sasuke, she continued to stand by Sarada.

Why Sasuke Uchiha Is The Most Evil Ninja In History To Konoha
To the people of Konoha, Sasuke Uchiha might just be the most evil ninja in history. There are not many for whom this title could be reserved, and only two would come to mind, those being Madara Uchiha and Sasuke. While Madara has a fair shot at being the most dangerous and uniquely evil ninja, the fact is that the vast majority of those who consider him truly evil are already dead. Madara is a ghost and only known through tales. He has been dead for a long time, and as such, isn’t spoken of enough in today’s time and age.

Sasuke Uchiha, on the other hand, has actively turned evil and become a rogue ninja. The vast majority of people in the ninja world know that Sasuke was hunted. His actions of going after the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki, Killer Bee, resonated throughout the entire world. His murder of various samurai, as well as Danzo, is also remembered by the ninja world, despite the latter being a much-deserved act. Furthermore, Sasuke is seen as a co-conspirator in the death of Naruto Uzumaki, which makes him incredibly hated, given that Naruto is seen as the savior of the entire world. Taking all things into consideration, Sasuke Uchiha is quite easily the most hated ninja in the entire world and one that they consider to be the most evil as well.
Sasuke’s Redemption Arc Has Been Ruined For Boruto Uzumaki
Sasuke being hated by the ninja world is especially sad because, to a significant degree, it ruins his redemption arc. Sasuke’s story saw him go from a young boy with the idea of revenge in his mind to becoming an avenger who wanted to destroy Konoha for what it did to his brother. Sasuke then wanted to revolutionize the village system by becoming a Hokage who could truly protect everyone and carry on the burden, just like his brother Itachi did. After Sasuke lost to Naruto, he was finally brought to his senses, and he helped create a successful world and was accepted by all those around him. Now, Sasuke is hated by the ninja world once again due to the effects of Omnipotence from Boruto Chapter 79, and this calls into question his entire redemption arc, which Kishimoto carefully built up over the years.
For the sake of the plotline, Sasuke’s redemption arc has been significantly ruined in the Boruto series, which is incredibly sad. Sasuke is also constantly used as a stepping stone for the next generation characters, such as Sarada and Boruto Uzumaki. This also calls into question how his legacy has been handled in the Boruto series. Most fans of the Naruto series are not amused by the handling of Sasuke’s character in the new story and can only hope that things improve going down the line. Thankfully, Sasuke Uchiha is incredibly close to returning in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. In the new arc of the series, which officially began on June 18, 2026, Sasuke Uchiha’s return has been teased heavily. This is because the main villain of this new arc is Hidari, the Shinju who was created from Sasuke’s DNA. As he is defeated, Sasuke’s Thorn Soul Bulb is going to be recovered, and it will be used to bring him back. All eyes are now on Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 37, which is set to be released on September 17, 2026, and continues the buildup towards Sasuke’s inevitable return.
