Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 players can currently claim a free Double XP bonus, which is available until October 26. The offer arrives during Modern Warfare 4‘s launch weekend, being officially positioned as a way for early adopters to hit the ground running by grinding more quickly.
Modern Warfare 4 released globally for PC and consoles on October 23. Its platform list includes the Switch 2, making it the first Call of Duty game since 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts to launch on a Nintendo console. At the same time, it is also the first series entry since 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 reboot not to have a day-and-day Xbox Game Pass release. Select modes were available to play early, with early access to the single-player campaign beginning on October 16 and DMZ following on October 20, but the full package (including multiplayer) only became available three days later. As a result, players are still in the opening stages of progressing through Modern Warfare 4‘s persistent progression systems.
How to Claim Modern Warfare 4’s Free Double XP

- Create an account on X.
- Create a new post or reply to the Double XP promotion post of the official Call of Duty account.
- Include your Activision ID in the post.
- Tag @CallofDuty (replies do this automatically).
- Add the phrase “MW4 2XP” (not a hashtag).
- Submit the post before 10 a.m. PT on October 26.
Activision is promoting its latest military shooter with a limited-time offer of a free Double XP Token, available to Modern Warfare 4 players until 10 a.m. PT on October 26. To claim the bonus, players need to make a post or reply on X containing their Activision ID, the @CallofDuty account tag, and the phrase “MW4 2XP.” Activision has not specified the duration of the boost being awarded. Regardless, the promotion itself is somewhat different from its many predecessors in previous years because Modern Warfare 4 changes how Double XP Tokens work by only making their timers count down during actual matches rather than in menus and lobbies.
Other Ways to Earn Modern Warfare 4 2XP Tokens During Launch Weekend and Beyond
The late October 2026 giveaway is not the shooter’s first promotion to involve Double XP. During the Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta, Infinity Ward activated both Double XP and Double Weapon XP on August 30, leaving the bonuses available through the final stretch of testing before the free-for-all test ended on September 1. The game’s launch has also been accompanied by other ways to obtain bonus XP, including a separate Monster Energy promotion offering a 2XP token to qualifying participants during launch weekend.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 campaign also provides additional free XP boosts. Its 16 missions collectively award three Double XP Tokens and two Double Weapon XP Tokens alongside Operators and other cosmetic rewards, all of which become usable in both Multiplayer and DMZ modes.
Those permanent avenues mean missing the current promotion will not leave players without ways to boost their XP earnings in the early game. Activision itself is also expected to run similar offers in the months ahead, especially during the 2026 holiday season.
