Crunchyroll is known as the biggest anime platform for fans outside of Japan. It features many fan-favorite mainstream series, as well as some more niche franchises. Among the plethora of amazing anime series on the platform, there are a few that stand as dominant forces. These include series such as Solo Leveling, One Piece, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, and the now newly revived anime by Studio Pierrot, Black Clover.
Black Clover Season 2 has brought the series back to life after a 5-year-long hiatus, and its success is clear as day on Crunchyroll, where ratings continue to rise every day. For the fall 2026 season, Black Clover has been the undeniable King of Crunchyroll, and it still has plenty of time to hit new milestones.
Black Clover Dominates Crunchyroll Following Season 2 Release
Black Clover was a decently popular shonen series in the 2010s. In large part, its success was attributed to its anime adaptation by Studio Pierrot, which first brought the series to life in 2017, following its 2015 manga debut in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, by creator Yuki Tabata. Despite the adaptation by Studio Pierrot being underwhelming, it still did enough to get the series on many anime fans’ radars. Sadly, because of Yuki Tabata’s health issues, which caused the Black Clover manga publication to slow down and switch magazines, Studio Pierrot was forced to put the anime on hold in 2021, much to the disappointment of the fans.
Luckily for fans, during Jump Festa 2025, the return of Black Clover was officially confirmed. With that, Black Clover Season 2 officially returned on October 3, 2026. So far, Black Clover Season 2 has been delivering amazing episodes, and what’s more, the reception has been absolutely sensational. Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1 was immediately a hit on all platforms it debuted on. On Crunchyroll specifically, the platform most chosen by anime fans outside of Japan, its success has been absolutely immense.
In many countries, including the United States of America, Black Clover has ranked as the Number 1 most popular anime. This ranking is constantly shifting, and it’s usually highest after the release of new episodes, but it’s a testament to Black Clover’s immediate revival and popularity among international anime viewers. What’s more, Black Clover’s overall ratings on the Crunchyroll platform have also been steadily increasing. As of today, the series has over 356k user ratings on the platform, which makes it one of the most rated series of all time. Despite being rated by so many fans, it has maintained a high rating of 4.8 out of 5, which is extremely impressive and implies that most fans of the series consider it a top-tier story.
This score would be even higher, had it not been merged with the previous underwhelming anime adaptation by Studio Pierrot from 2017. When it comes to new anime that aired in Fall 2026, it has definitely shown itself to be among the most successful ones, with its only rival being Dragon Ball’s return and the readaptation of the Beerus Saga. It is even a strong contestant for the best return of 2026 as a whole.
Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1 Boasts High Ratings
Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1’s debut on October 3, 2026, was a massive moment for the franchise. After five long years of waiting, the anime finally returned, and fans were there to support it. Needless to say, the success of the series has been clear on Crunchyroll. Upon the release of the first episode, fan likes for this specific release shot through the roof. Currently, Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1, titled “The Battle Begins,” has already reached over 148k likes on Crunchyroll. In contrast, it only has 379 dislikes, showing that fans are almost all in agreement about the incredible work put forward by Studio Pierrot.
What makes this number so impressive is that Black Clover surpassed another shonen giant, Jujutsu Kaisen, in the process of achieving this feat. Jujutsu Kaisen also returned in 2026 earlier this year in January. When Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episode 1 made its debut, it went on to accumulate 130k likes overall. In just a couple of days, Black Clover was easily able to surpass it. To be able to beat the likes of Jujutsu Kaisen is definitely a great sign of Black Clover’s popularity, despite years of absence.
While not as high as the first episode, Black Clover Season 2 Episode 2 is also on track to reach 100k ratings. Currently, it’s at 86k, but is growing every day. When the big battles begin, these ratings will shoot up. Black Clover Season 2 Episode 3 is also doing great, with an 10k debut on Crunchyroll. We’re all curious to see how Black Clover’s Crunchyroll performance evolves over the next couple of months. For now, the next episode of the series, that is, Black Clover Season 2 Episode 4, is scheduled to air on October 24, 2026. Since Episode 3 marked the beginning of some of the biggest battles, the intensity is now getting higher.
Black Clover Is Close To Hitting Its Next Milestone On Crunchyroll
After a long absence from the anime scene, Black Clover has been hitting milestones faster than ever before. The reason for that is simply the love that the fans have for the series. After a long wait, all fans of Black Clover crave more content, and now that the quality of the anime far surpasses anything seen previously in the series, it is a much more enjoyable watch. The switch from a weekly anime series to a seasonal one was greatly beneficial for the overall popularity of Black Clover.
With all that said, we are expecting Black Clover to reach even more milestones on Crunchyroll over the next few months. For one, the overall ratings on Crunchyroll are surely going to skyrocket. While currently at around 350k, Black Clover is set to surpass the 400k mark before the end of 2026. By doing so, it will become one of only 12 series to have achieved this feat. Based on how popular it gets, Black Clover Season 2 could climb even higher. The series isn’t going to end anytime before 2027. This gives it ample time to surpass the 400k mark and potentially hit 500k. While it’s unlikely to see it surpass the likes of One Piece or Solo Leveling in overall ratings, it isn’t impossible. Solo Leveling, a small series with no previous hype, managed to surpass 1 million ratings on Crunchyroll, and Black Clover definitely has the potential to achieve that.
Black Clover is also set to break a new personal record when it comes to individually rated episodes. Currently, Black Clover’s highest-rated individual episode is Season 2 Episode 1, with 147k likes. The big battle of Yuno vs. Zenon could potentially help it break the new record. Finally, Black Clover Season 2 is set to be heavily featured at next year’s Crunchyroll Awards, which are set to take place sometime in April 2027. Yuki Tabata’s series could potentially be in the running for Anime of the Year.
