The Dragon Ball franchise is home to some of the most powerful characters in anime history. Even before Dragon Ball Super introduced God Ki, multiversal-tier power scaling, and characters capable of shaking the entire universe just by fighting, the main cast at the end of DBZ were simply in another league of strength compared to most shonen series. Now, Dragon Ball Super has set up the most powerful villain, not only in Dragon Ball, but quite possibly anime and manga history.
At the end of the Granolah the Survivor Saga, Frieza made a surprise appearance for the first time since Dragon Ball Super: Broly. Much to the shock of everyone, Frieza unveiled a new transformation: his Black form. Black Frieza remains the single most powerful and dangerous mortal in the Dragon Ball multiverse, and it’s quite possible he exceeds even the Power Levels of Gods like Beerus. When the Dragon Ball Super manga finally comes out of hiatus, Goku and Vegeta will be facing the greatest threat in anime history.
It’s The End of an Era For Dragon Ball’s Strongest Saiyans
When the Dragon Ball Super manga finally returns for the Black Frieza Saga, Goku and Vegeta will no longer be the strongest Saiyans in the series.
Frieza Trained For Ten Straight Years to Become Overpowered & Unstoppable
Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F was originally marketed with the tagline, “The worst wish in history,” referencing Frieza coming back to life. At the time, this seemed liked a gross exaggeration considering how easily Goku and Vegeta dealt with Frieza, but now that Frieza’s returned to life yet again following the end of the Tournament of Power, it all makes sense. Frieza has greater potential than just about any character in the Dragon Ball franchise.
By just casually training for four months, Frieza went from weaker than Super Saiyan Goku on Namek, to stronger than both Goku and Vegeta in their Super Saiyan Blue forms. Frieza is just a mortal, but he was able to train himself well enough to literally surpass the strongest Saiyans in existence, who now rival Gods with their powers. The only reason Frieza lost is because he didn’t bother refining his Golden form once unlocking it.
Frieza is so strong, he’s able to catch up to Mastered Super Saiyan Blue Goku by the Universe Survival Saga by simply image training. After getting destroyed by Broly in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Frieza leaves Unvierse 7 to explore the multiverse. On his travels, he finds a Hyperbolic Time Chamber that he decides to spend a full decade training inside. While in the Room of Spirit and Time, Frieza not only surpasses every mortal in the multiverse, he evolves his Golden form into his Black Frieza transformation: easily the most overpowered form in the entire franchise.
Black Frieza is the Strongest Character in Dragon Ball Super Right Now
It truly goes without saying, but Black Frieza is the most powerful character in Dragon Ball Super right now, possibly even stronger than the Gods themselves. when Black Frieza makes his first appearance in the Granolah the Survivor Saga, he kills Awakened Gas with one blow. At this point in the story, Awakened Gas was far and away the strongest mortal in Universe 7, surpassing Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, who Goku believed was even stronger than Beerus.
Black Frieza ultimately ends up defeating both True Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta with one blow, only sparing them because he hadn’t intended on killing them that day – but he easily could have if he wanted to. Based on Goku’s comments and his feats, Black Frieza, quite possibly surpasses even Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta. There is no one in the Dragon Ball universe, save Zeno, who can kill Black Frieza in his current state.
Dragon Ball Super 2 is Officially Introducing the Ultimate Ultra Instinct Form
Goku will unlock the most ultimate version of Ultra Instinct in Dragon Ball Super 2, bringing him one step closer to the Angels and Gods.
Dragon Ball’s Main Characters Stand No Chance Against Black Frieza
As it stands, none of Dragon Ball‘s main characters currently stand a chance against Black Frieza. While Goku and Vegeta have been training non-stop since being beaten by Black Frieza, there’s nothing in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero to suggest they’ve greatly surpassed themselves since the Granolah the Survivor Saa. Toyotarou has also confirmed that Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, Orange Piccolo, and Gohan Beast are all in the same tier of power as Black Frieza.
Beerus is currently the Z-Fighters’ best shot at beating Black Frieza, but all signs point to Frieza being even more powerful than Universe 7’s God of Destruction in his current form. Obviously, Dragon Ball isn’t the kind of story where the villains win and someone will have to be able to stop Black Frieza, but the heroes might need to resort to other methods like making Frieza Universe 7’s next God of Destruction ratehr than stopping him outright. Black Frieza is just too strong. Never before has an anime had a villain this overwhelmingly powerful.
