Grab Some Popcorn! Meridia Watch Party Is Taking Over the Helldivers 2 Community

The first anniversary of Helldivers 2 is fast approaching, and the expectations are quite high. Justifiably so, as so many storylines are currently unfolding in-game. However, one of these storylines has gained more attention than the others. After almost eight months, the storyline of the Meridia black hole (turned wormhole) seems to be approaching its conclusion. The Helldivers 2 developers have been teasing that something grand would happen, so the players are taking their Super Destroyers and parking them on the brink of the abyss that was once Meridia for a watch party.

What’s Going on With the Wormhole?

A lot has happened recently. Several days ago, the Spacetime Fluctuation Indicator started ticking and it hasn’t stopped since. Not only that, but the readings have been getting worse, especially during the time the two Warp Links disappeared.

Well, it happened again. On the evening of January 31, another Warp Link disappeared. This time it was the one connecting Meridia and Turing. This means that what was once Meridia is now connected only to Angel’s Venture and Fenrir III.

One player, Lord_Andromeda, mused: “Meridia has lost its third connection. The intentions of the Illuminate still remain shrouded in mystery but for how much longer?”. Truly a question that haunts the majority of players.

If this trend of Warp Links disappearing continues, we can expect Meridia to be cut off completely in a couple of days. Obviously, once a planet (um, a wormhole in this case) is cut off, players can’t access it anymore. Thus, an unusual trend began. Helldivers 2 players started parking their Super Destroyers next to Meridia and organized a watch party.

One player, Nichool162, noted: “Seems we soon won’t have access to Meridia anymore. Therefore I will be parking my super destroyer in front of that wormhole and I’m not moving until someone says hello”. Other players agreed, stating that they went back to Meridia after finishing their missions for the day.

But, the question of what would happen with the wormhole remains. The community is divided, some think that there will be a Special Event connected with the leaked Stargate Nexus. Others believe Helldivers could go through the wormhole.

One thing is for sure – we’ll find out soon. The anniversary is on February 8, but the festivities might start as early as February 4, as Arrowhead usually issues updates on a Tuesday. So, let’s concentrate on the problem at hand while we wait. We have to liberate Chort Bay and stop the Jet Brigade from returning. So, join us for the Major Order. For Liberty and Super Earth.
