In Solarpunk, players can raise Sheep in a farm to get Sheep’s Milk, a key material needed to complete a key trade with the tradebot. Sheep farming works essentially the same way as farming Chickens and Pigs. The only difference is that instead of the Chicken Coop or the Pig Shelter, you’ll need the Sheep Shelter to house these animals. Here’s the breakdown.
How to Get and Upgrade Backpack in Solarpunk
In Solarpunk, players can expand their inventory space by collecting the Backpack and two Backpack Extensions. Here are their locations.
Where to Find Sheep in Solarpunk
There are three Sheep you can find in Solarpunk, two on the island southeast of the starting island, and one on the island northwest of it (locations marked in the screenshot above). You will only be able to reach these islands after you’ve upgraded your Airship to level 4.
Upgrade Airship
To reach Airship level 4, you’ll need to complete 15 trades with the tradebot. They are:

Airship Level 4 |
After you’ve unlocked the level 4 Airship, your travel circle will expand, and you’ll be able to visit every island in the game except for the snow islands at the very edge of the map. This naturally includes the islands where you can find Sheep.
Sheep Locations
As mentioned previously, there are three Sheep you can find in the game.
- Sheep #1 (SE Island): Found right next to the large lake in the middle region of the island.
- Sheep #2 (SE Island): Found in the clearing at the top of the southern plateau of the island. There is no direct path leading up to this part of the island. You’ll have to either land here directly using the Airship or build a staircase up to the clearing.
- Sheep #3 (NW Island): Found in the dirt clearing in the middle of the island.
How to Catch Sheep in Solarpunk
To catch a Sheep and bring them back to your base, you’ll need two things:
- Animal Receiving Station x1
- Animal Transportation Device x3
By this point in the game, you should already have an Animal Receiving Station in your base, but if you removed it for some reason previously, place one somewhere on the island where you want to start the sheep farm.
To transport the Sheep, all you have to do is walk up to one, interact with it using an Animal Transportation device, and confirm the selection. The Sheep will be instantly transported to your base.
How to Get Sheep Milk in Solarpunk
To start a Sheep farm to get Milk in Solarpunk, you’ll need the following things:
- Sheep
- Sheep Shelter
- Feeding Trough / Automatic Feeding Trough
- Water Trough / Automatic Water Trough
- Feed Bags
The Sheep Shelter can be unlocked at the Research Table Tier 7 at the cost of Corn x5 and Wood x5. Water and Feeding Troughs should already be unlocked for you by this point in the game, as well as the Feed Bags.
Once you’re ready, place three Sheep Shelters where you want to start your Sheep farm. Lure the Sheep to the Sheep Shelters using Corn, and wait for their names to appear on the plaque attached to the shelters. When the names appear, it means they’re now registered to your farm and will not run away or die no matter what.
Place the Feeding Trough and Water Troughs near the Sheep Shelters and fill them up with Feed Bags and Water, respectively. As the Sheep eat and drink at the farm, the progress meters indicating their hunger, thirst, and shelter needs will go up. When all three are in the green, it means the Sheep are ready to give you milk.
Check back again after an hour or so, and you should find Sheep’s Milk in the baskets attached to the Sheep Shelters. From then on, as long as the Sheep are cared for, they’ll keep giving you Sheep’s Milk.
