Soul Reaping is by far the best Witchcraft ability in Blood of Dawnwalker, and you can get a free manual for it by heading to an Ancient Circle in the woods east of Maragir. You can get another in the River Massacre Site east of Svartrau by defeating all the ghosts haunting the camp. This skill is a curse that inflicts damage over time to an enemy, and it also heals you for every second it’s active, making it an essential ability for sustaining yourself while exploring Blood of Dawnwalker in human form.
Blood of Dawnwalker: Soul Reaping Manual Locations Overview
- Ancient Circle east of Maragir
- River Massacre Site east of Svartrau
- Sold by Vera, Mevasser, and the Uriashi Matriarch
Maragir Ancient Circle
Open your map and hover over Maragir (southeast of Laslea). You’ll find a clearing in the woods to the east, and if you go there, you’ll find an Ancient Circle that you can only activate during daytime. Trigger the fight by interacting with the stone altar in the middle of the circle, then get rid of the enemies that appear. Once they’re gone, loot the chest to get a Soul Reaping manual as well as a bunch of other valuable loot.
The River Massacre Site
This point of interest is east of Svartrau and just south of Volk’s hut. This works much like an Ancient Circle encounter โ summon enemies, beat them all, then loot the nearby chest. You’ll find another Soul Reaping manual here and a bunch of other stuff that you can sell or use.
Witchcraft Vendors
The three vendors mentioned above (Vera, Mevasser, and the Uriashi Matriarch) sell Witchcraft manuals, including ones for Soul Reaping. However, you may not be able to access these vendors until you reach or if you go past certain quests:
- The Uriashi Matriarch can only be reached by gaining access to the Uriashi village
- Vera dies once you start the Bittersweet Toast quest (which is tied to the Ambrus boss fight)
Mevasser should be available once you reach Svartrau. However, unlike other Blood of Dawnwalker merchants, his location on the map isn’t marked. Enter the city through the Svartrau West Shrine, then head to the small market plaza in Neustadt. Mevasser’s house is near a stone arch.

Coen doesn’t have many options to regain lost health while in human form, and that’s exactly why Soul Reaping is such a crucial ability. Not only does it deal damage to your target, but it continuously heals you throughout its duration. Affected targets will also stay out of the fight, and if that isn’t good enough, any damage you take is transferred to them, and you heal when they die.
Soul Reaping is best used against high-health targets that can take more damage than the usual rank-and-file enemies. The longer your target lives, the more health you’ll be able to regain.
