Sadly, Gojo has been cut out from the story for quite some time now. In the anime, Gojo was sealed in Shibuya using the Prison Realm, and as things stand, in the Culling Game arc, his return has yet to happen. This was achieved by Kenjaku in the Shibuya Incident arc, where he was able to take Gojo by surprise and seal him using the Prison Realm. Now, the sorcerers are working actively in the Culling Game arc to save Gojo Satoru and finally bring this calamity to an end. Right now, the sorcerers have yet to accomplish their goal, but as Jujutsu Kaisen returns in the second part of the Culling Game in 2027, this goal will finally be achieved.
Most recently, towards the end of Jujutsu Kaisen season 3, the Sendai Colony battle featuring Yuta Okkotsu was finally taken care of. Now, more focus is going to be placed on the likes of Megumi Fushiguro, Yuji Itadori, as well as the character of Ryomen Sukuna. Those who have read the manga know that these characters are going to be incredibly important moving forward, but even more importantly, that the return of Gojo Satoru is now very close.

Gojo Satoru’s return, which is inevitably going to happen in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4, is going to set up the end of the entire series, and this is quite clear for the fans to see. The Jujutsu Kaisen manga ended with Chapter 271, released in September 2024. Right now, the anime is in the second-to-last arc of the series, which means that what comes after the Culling Game is going to be the finale of the series. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 will finally wrap up the Culling Game, leaving behind only the last stretch of the story set in Shinjuku. In other words, Gojo’s return will finally mark the beginning of the end of the series, and that is also something that we are all eagerly waiting for.
As things stand, it is unclear as to what path Jujutsu Kaisen will be taking following the conclusion of Season 4. If it continues as a TV anime, then fans can expect at least two more seasons to wrap up the story. Why Gojo’s Return Marks The Beginning Of The Biggest JJK Project
With the return of Gojo Satoru at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4, most fans are going to be eagerly waiting for the next big project that finally tackles the cataclysmic battle of Gojo and Sukuna. Manga fans know precisely how massive this battle was, but it is going to be made far grander in the anime. Given the recent boom in anime movies tackling the final arcs, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Studio MAPPA doing a movie for Gojo vs. Sukuna. In fact, most fans have been crying out for a Gojo vs. Sukuna movie, considering the immense amount of hype surrounding it in the manga.
As such, Gojo’s return at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 could very well set up the biggest project that this series has ever seen, and that is a Gojo vs. Sukuna movie. Given the immense talent at Studio MAPPA, this movie could very well be the biggest thing that this franchise has ever seen, and it’s something that we are eagerly waiting to witness. That said, nothing is set in stone yet. It is also possible that Studio MAPPA will just want to do regular TV anime seasons for Jujutsu Kaisen moving forward. Interestingly enough, MAPPA recently animated a trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo. In other words, even after the conclusion of Gege’s original story, Modulo could end up receiving an anime adaptation by Studio MAPPA as well, which is surely going to be incredibly exciting for the fans to see. For now, all the focus is on Gojo Satoru’s return at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4, as his absence has been strongly felt in the previous seasons. Without Gojo, Jujutsu Kaisen is simply not the same, and hopefully his 2027 comeback is going to be just as massive as we expect it to be.
