Krafton has announced plans to invest an additional $250 million (around ₹2,300 crore) in India over the next three to four years, doubling its total planned investment in the country to $500 million. The PUBG publisher says the new funding will support India’s gaming industry, startups, and emerging technologies including AI, robotics, and deep tech.
The investment was announced as Krafton Chairman Byung Gyu Chang met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. According to the company, the move reflects its long-term commitment to India’s gaming, technology, and digital entertainment ecosystem.
Krafton said it has already invested $250 million in India and has also established a $670 million venture growth fund to support further investments in the country.
The company said the new investment will focus on expanding India’s gaming ecosystem, supporting homegrown intellectual property, and backing startups. It also plans to increase its presence in AI, robotics, and other deep-tech sectors.
“India is a market of immense opportunity, with exceptional talent across gaming, technology and innovation. Our continued investments reflect our long-term confidence in India and our commitment to contributing to its digital economy,” Krafton Chairman Byung Gyu Chang said.
Beyond investments, Kraftib has also been expanding its local footprint. The company recently launched KIGI Academy, an industry-academia initiative aimed at developing skills in game development and digital creation. It also acquired Pune-based Nautilus Mobile, the studio behind the Real Cricket franchise, as part of its efforts to support Indian game development and locally created intellectual property.
Krafton said these investments and initiatives are intended to support India’s ambition of becoming a global hub for gaming, technology, and IP-led innovation.
