Netflix in July means a third Enola Holmes adventure, a new series from Will Ferrell, a new movie from Kevin Hart, two Oscar-winning performances from Frances McDormand, a bunch of The Tick, a new Little House on the Prairie series, a Hot Ones special, and much more.
So while you ponder the how/why/who of Netflix raising its prices once again, here’s a rundown of every series, special, movie, and doc landing on Netflix in July… And also be sure to check out our 10 most anticipated TV shows to stream in July as well.
What’s Worth Watching?
Enola Holmes 3 – July 1
Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, Himesh Patel, Helena Bonham Carter, and Louis Partridge all return for this new Enola outing, as the titular sleuth plunges into a new perilous case after her plans to tie the knot get interrupted by her brother Sherlock’s disappearance. Adolescence’s Philip Barantini directs (!) this third chapter, while Jack Thorne (last month’s Lord of the Flies series) returns as writer.
Talk to Me – July 1
There are a ton of amazing films landing on the first of the month — like Donnie Brasco, Fargo, Nomadland, Gone Girl, The Witch, High Fidelity, Moneyball, Queen & Slim — that it’s hard to give just one the spotlight. But with Obsession and Backrooms dominating the box office this summer, we’re in the full throes of YouTuber horror, so make sure you check out Talk to Me, which kicked off this movement a few years back in a thrilling, terrifying way. From RackaRacka’s Danny and Michael Philippou, Talk to Me is a simple, brutal ghost story featuring an embalmed hand that allows a bunch of Aussie teens to play dangerous spiritual possession games. The brothers’ follow up, Bring Her Back, is equally great… and even bleaker!

The Tick: Seasons 1-2 – July 15
We’re getting a SPOOOONful of Tick in July, with the single season live-action series landing on July 8 (it’s called the Complete Series as a joke) and the first two seasons of the ’90s cult animated series coming on the 15th. Do yourself a huge favor and check out this blue buffoon and the city he righteously protects from the likes of Chairface Chippendale, Breadmaster, El Seed, and the Terror.
The Hawk – July 16
Created by Will Ferrell, Harper Steele, and Chris Henchy, The Hawk features Ferrell as a washed-up champion golfer who, refusing to retire, attempts the greatest comeback in golf history. Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Chris Parnell, and Luke Wilson also star.
Plus, three days earlier on the 13th, Sean Evans brings Hot Ones to Netflix for a special out-of-studio episode featuring Ferrell, Tatro, and Feimster.
72 HOURS – July 23
Kevin Hart’s latest streaming endeavor involves a 40-year-old who tries to prove his youthfulness by tagging along with a group of 20-somethings for a Miami bachelor party. SNL’s Marcello Hernández, Kam Patterson, and Ben Marshall, along with Oscar nominee Teyana Taylor and Scream King Mason Gooding, also star. Tim Story directs from a script co-written by Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg.
Hannibal: Season 1-3 – July 27
It’s a treat for the eyes and a delight for the palate as Bryan Fuller’s brilliant mixtape of Thomas Harris’ Hannibal Lecter saga makes its way back to Netflix. Beat the heat this summer with horrific murder tableaus and the elegant meals said tableaus provide. Mads Mikkelsen’s Hannibal is uniquely cunning and predatory while Hugh Dancy’s Will Graham sweats his way through this cannibal crucible like a pro. This is still a must-watch for everyone on Earth.

Ahhh, the Hellboy that’s coming on the 1st is the 2019 one; the one that’s leaving is the del Toro movie from 2004. Glad we could solve this together.
