Insomniac Games has shadow-dropped two brand-new suits for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, much to the surprise of fans. While Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is almost three years old at this point, fans can jump in now to enjoy two new Spidey suits completely free of charge.
Insomniac’s Spider-Man games feature a wide variety of suits inspired by the character’s numerous appearances in comics and on screen over the years. Every player has their own favorite, which is why it’s great that fans have so many to choose from for their own playthrough. On PC, there are even tons of suit mods for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which add even more that Insomniac may have missed during development.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Shadow Drops Two Brand-New Suits
In a post on X, developer Insomniac Games confirmed that it had added two new Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 suits in its 1.005.000 update. The first suit is named the Fresh Start suit, based on the character’s appearance in the upcoming movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The second is the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls suit, which looks exactly like the suit that appears in Arc System Works’ fighting game, which is set to launch next month. While the movie suit is more of a classic Spidey look, the latter is one of the few in the game that is cel-shaded, giving it a much more stylized appearance.
While the Spider-Man: Brand New Day suit was actually confirmed a short while ago, the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls suit comes as a surprise, making this a cool shadow-drop for fans. It makes sense, though, given the fighting game’s impending release. It’s cool to see Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 still receive some level of support so long after its release, and new suits are always welcome for subsequent playthroughs further down the line. To get these suits, all players need to do is download the new update, and they will be available to select in-game.
The 1.005.000 update doesn’t just add the two new suits. It also adds support for Enhanced PSSR on PlayStation 5 Pro and Power Saver mode, which is a great quality-of-life addition. While these changes may be small, they do add up in the long run.
Insomniac Games is currently working on the development of Marvel’s Wolverine, so there’s no indication about when its next Spider-Man game will be released. There were some murmurs a few months ago that Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 may already be in development, but this has yet to be confirmed by the developer, and so should be treated as a rumor until then. The success of the previous two games makes a third mainline game a near-certainty, though, and it will be exciting to see where the story of Peter Parker and Miles Morales goes next.
