One Piece Episode 1160 Review Loki’s Anime Debut

The One Piece anime is finally picking up the pace and moving on to the more interesting bits of the Elbaph arc. There was a lot of hype around Episode 1160 as the preview pointed to the debut of Loki, the Accursed Prince of Elbaph.

He had been mentioned in the story before, but fans had never actually seen him. Naturally, his appearance was the main talking point of the newest One Piece episode. Thus, it’s only natural to cover it in depth in the review.

One Piece: The Similarities Between Loki And Luffy

Loki and Luffy share more similarities than most One Piece fans might expect them to. How similar are they?

After escaping from the Block Kingdom, Luffy and his group reached a massive rope bridge and decided to cross it to find out what lay beyond. Midway through, Luffy decided to jump down and find the creature that was growling. He told the rest of the group to go ahead, while he decided to go after the noise source.

As he continued to walk, a pack of wolves decided to attack him, but they stopped after hearing a loud shriek. The minor hiccup didn’t deter Luffy’s spirits in the least, and he kept on going. Eventually, he met Loki, who introduced himself as the person who would destroy the world. Loki also called himself the Sun God.

Funnily enough, Loki is the second person in the Elbaph arc to call himself the Sun God. The first was obviously the giant who was responsible for creating the Block Kingdom. He did the whole act to try to trick people into believing that he was, in fact, the Sun God. Loki’s statement has made things more interesting, and it definitely seems that fans will learn more about the Sun God in the Elbaph arc.

Is Loki The Bad Guy?

When Luffy met Loki, the latter was in chains. This is a strong indicator that Loki is not a good person. Furthermore, several members of the Giant Warrior Pirates talked about Loki, and they had nothing good to say about him. They called him a power-hungry individual who wanted to create chaos. All the evidence points towards Loki being a horrible person, so the question is: is he really a malicious individual?

The short answer is no. In One Piece, things are never so simple. Fans have seen it happen before, where characters seemed evil at first but eventually turned out to be kind. So, there is a good chance that Loki is actually innocent, and the claims are grossly exaggerated. However, fans will have to be patient as it won’t happen so quickly.

Other Standout Moments From One Piece Episode 1160

The latest One Piece episode also revealed the new bounties of Dorry and Brogy. After their involvement in the Egghead Incident, the World Government decided to increase the bounties of the two giants. As always, the organization wanted to present their opponents as evil and dangerous, so it gave Dorry and Brogy a bounty of 1.8 billion berries each. Oddly enough, the Straw Hats didn’t receive new bounties. Even though the World Government accused Luffy of murdering Dr. Vegapunk, the smartest person in the world.

The episode also confirmed that the rest of the Straw Hats, who were traveling with the Giant Warrior Pirates, won’t be looking for Luffy’s group. They were confident that their crewmates could deal with any kind of challenge, so instead of searching for them, they would wait in Elbaph. This was the logical choice, as Luffy is a Yonko and his wings are traveling with him. No sane person would try to mess with them. Another important detail that was revealed in One Piece Episode 1160 was that Hajrudin was also a prince of Elbaph, which raises the question of why a person of royal descent would travel so far and leave their country unguarded.

Overall, the episode was brilliant. While there was no intense action, it did disclose several important details related to the story. Hopefully, the anime keeps up the momentum from here on out.
