The Void Century is one of the most significant time periods in the lore of the One Piece world, officially mentioned first in One Piece Chapter 395. The Void Century has since become important to the overarching narrative established by Eiichiro Oda. In the Final Saga, the author has paid a significant amount of attention to it, revealing bits and pieces, starting with the Egghead Arc.
In Elbaf, quite a lot of the Void Century was unveiled to us with the reveal of the Harley and the Elbaf mural in One Piece Chapter 1138, and finally, through Nerona Imu himself. Following his descent in One Piece Chapter 1179, on April 5, 2026, Eiichiro Oda officially solidified the two absolute strongest Void Century Devil Fruits to us once and for all.
One Piece Chapter 1189 Officially Crowns ‘Akuma no Mi’ As The Mightiest Void Century Devil Fruit
Nerona Imu’s Akuma no Mi was officially introduced to us in One Piece Chapter 1179, which was released on April 5, 2026, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #19. Immediately after, Eiichiro Oda showcased the true power of Nerona Imu’s Devil Fruit ability. In One Piece Chapter 1180, Imu made quick work of Zoro, Hajarudin, and Sanji using the power of his Devil Fruit, and it was clear to see that this fruit was in a league of its own. First things first, Nerona Imu’s fruit is a cut above the rest because of its name itself. While all other names have a dual naming pattern, such as the Hito Hito no Mi, the Gura Gura no Mi, the Goro Goro no Mi, and the Magu Magu no Mi, Nerona Imu’s fruit is simply called ‘Akuma no Mi’ or ‘The Devil’s Fruit’. In other words, this Devil Fruit is a cut above the rest and precedes all other powers, which is why it has established its presence as the strongest fruit from The Void Century.

The powers that this fruit offers are also immense. For one, it allows Nerona Imu to transform into a devil of the One Piece world. Immediately after arriving in Elbaf, Imu undertook a unique transformation, which gave him tanned skin, giant horns, black wings, a naginata as a weapon, as well as a wheel of black flames behind his back. According to Loki in One Piece Chapter 1181, released officially on April 27, 2026, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #22-23, Nerona Imu’s power is God’s Domination, or, in other words, a deal with the devil. Nerona Imu can grant significant powers to those who enter into a Covenant with him through either the Shallows Covenant, Depths Covenant, or the Abyssal Covenant. Imu can also use the power of Domi Reversi to turn anyone into demonic slaves and buff them in terms of power by granting them physical strength, immortality, and regeneration.

Imu: God? Devil? What is the difference?

Above all, Imu has the ability to manipulate the black flames of Omen, which was also confirmed in Chapter 1181. According to Imu himself, Omen is his military mind and is a power that exists within all beings in the One Piece world, yet only he has shown the capability of manipulating it so far. With this Omen, Nerona Imu can produce various weaponry, including the 19 Blades of the Creators of the World Government. Using Omen, Imu was able to attack and defend in the battle against Loki, overwhelm him, and then even defeat Monkey D. Luffy, who was at full power, in One Piece Chapter 1188 on July 13, 2026.
“Omen is my military might. It’s a power that dwells within all living things.” — Nerona Imu explains Omen, One Piece Chapter #1181
All these feats officially culminated in One Piece Chapter 1189, which was released on July 26, 2026, where Imu dealt the final blow to Monkey D. Luffy using the Blade of the Sea God: Fragarach. With this blade striking the Sun God Nika, Imu was officially declared the victor of the first round, and it is clear that his fruit is even superior to Luffy’s Hito Hito no Mi Model: Nika.
Monkey D. Luffy’s Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika Is Another Overpowered Void Century Fruit
While Nerona Imu’s Akuma no Mi is quite clearly the strongest Devil Fruit from the Void Century, another fruit that we know for sure existed during the Void Century is Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. Introduced in One Piece Chapter 1044 on March 28, 2022, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #17, this Devil Fruit is incredibly powerful and was created with the wishes for freedom and liberation from oppression. The one who ate this Devil Fruit in the Void Century was none other than Joy Boy, who was also the first pirate to ever exist. With its powers, Joy Boy became a calamity to take on in battle, and he entered into a massive war against a collaboration of 20 Kingdoms. Joy Boy’s strength was absolutely immense, and his control over the power of Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, was far greater than that of Luffy.
“Possessing a body with the powers of rubber, and fighting in whatever way he fancies, bringing smiles to the faces of people, the Warrior of Liberation…also known as the Sun God, Nika!” — Oda explains Sun God Nika, One Piece Chapter #1044
This is directly indicated by measuring the strength of his Haki, which is proportional to the strength of the individual. In One Piece Chapter 1122, Joy Boy’s strongest Haki was unleashed by Emeth, and it managed to split the skies, nullify the abilities of the Five Elders, knock out Marine Vice Admirals, and even cause immense pain to Imu himself. Luffy isn’t on that level of strength yet, which means Joy Boy’s Nika transformation was far stronger overall. Still, when compared to every ability that Nerona Imu gets through his Akuma no Mi, the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, which grants a unique transformation as well as a limitless imagination along with the power to bend the rules of nature itself, isn’t as strong.
Why More God Fruits Are Coming In The Final Saga
As things stand, the Akuma no Mi and Hito Hito no Mi Model: Nika stand as the two strongest Devil Fruits from the Void Century. However, this group of Devil Fruits is likely going to expand significantly in the Final Saga. This is because there are more God Devil Fruits that are directly tied to the Void Century and are set to be revealed in the last stretch of the story. In One Piece Chapter 1182, which was released officially on May 10, 2026, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #24, Eiichiro Oda already teased the existence of Hito Hito no Mi Model: Zaza. This fruit would allow the user to turn into the Rain God itself.
“Appearing to the rhythm of the prayers for rain…Rain God Zaza!” — Saint Killingham introduces Zaza, One Piece Chapter #1182
Similarly, there likely exists a Forest God Fruit and an Earth God Fruit that we have not seen yet. There could very well also exist a Sea God Fruit whose existence was teased in One Piece Chapter 1189 on July 26. All things considered, these fruits might very well rival the Nika Fruit or be even stronger. We have not seen the full capabilities of these Devil Fruits yet, but as the story continues, Eiichiro Oda is likely to reveal these God Fruits to us and give us more powerful Void Century abilities.
