In UFC 6, competitive martial arts doesn’t always have to be ruthless and cold-hearted. In fact, some of the best matches start with mutual respect that occurs when both fighters touch gloves, and that’s something you can do with this guide.
While not an official rule, touching gloves shows that you’re a good sport, win or lose. You can touch gloves in UFC 6 with L2 / LT at the beginning of a round, but you’re going to want to check out these tips to make sure you avoid being baited and to see other emotes you can perform.

How to Touch Gloves in UFC 6
When the fight begins, hold down L2 or LT and slowly move towards your opponent. This way, your fighter will bring their hand forward to touch the opponent’s glove. However, your opponent must also do the same, and you’ll see if they are because their arm will also extend.
Both AI opponents and real players might reject touching gloves, so you might be baited into getting hit first!
Some online opponents may use touch gloves as bait to land the first hit, but this is usually not a big disadvantage to you, as that one hit won’t exactly change the results of the match. Usually, it’s safer not to respond to a touch gloves attempt in the ranked mode, because even small advantages could be crucial for winning. Just make sure you don’t get a takedown earlier in the fight by falling for a touch-gloves request.
It’s worth noting that touching gloves has a short window at the beginning of the match. If you miss it, you can reattempt to touch gloves at the start of every round.
How to Perform Postures and Emotes in UFC 6
While touching gloves is considered a posture that requires action from both sides, there are other postures and emotes that you can do on your own, with no need for a response from the opponent.
Pressing every button on the D-Pad of your controller will show off one posture. Most of these are competitive postures that will excite fans to support you or to taunt and humiliate your opponent.
However, there is one respectful posture that you can perform. If you hold down L1 or LB and then press any of the buttons on your D-Pad, your fighter will show respect to your opponent.
No matter which posture you choose to perform, it’s always best to do them when your opponent is stunned or when they are still on the ground. While it’s possible to cancel the posture animation, it will still happen with a delay, and that’s enough for your opponent to land a successful hit. That’s why celebrating early could get you in trouble, so don’t get too cocky!
