#SaveMassEffect Officially Taking Over N7 Day

Mass Effect fans are planning a major event for N7 Day 2026, hoping to convince publisher EA to reconsider the future of the beloved RPG franchise following BioWare’s closure. On October 21, EA shut down BioWare and unceremoniously brought an end to the studio responsible for Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and several other iconic RPGs. The closure also resulted in the cancellation of the next Mass Effect game, which had been in development for several years.

The news surrounding BioWare and Mass Effect has prompted an enormous response from the community, with fans now organizing an event to demonstrate just how much interest remains in the franchise. November 7 has traditionally been an important date for Mass Effect, with BioWare using N7 Day to celebrate the franchise and occasionally reveal information about upcoming projects. However, N7 Day 2026 will be considerably different, now that BioWare is no longer around to celebrate the occasion. Instead, fans are taking matters into their own hands, with the #SaveMassEffect movement organizing a coordinated event to bring attention to the franchise.

#SaveMassEffect N7 Day Plans

The #SaveMassEffect movement is organizing a massive Mass Effect Legendary Edition play session on November 7, 2026, encouraging players to launch the game simultaneously and boost its concurrent player count on Steam. The event, promoted by the We Are Mass Effect community, will run for three hours at the following times:

  • Pacific Time: 11 AM–2 PM
  • Eastern Time: 2 PM–5 PM
  • Greenwich Mean Time: 7 PM–10 PM
  • Central European Time: 8 PM–11 PM

The goal is to get as many people playing Mass Effect Legendary Edition as possible, hopefully creating a noticeable spike in the game’s Steam player count to get EA’s attention. Although PC is the main focus, console players are also encouraged to participate by sharing screenshots and using #SaveMassEffect on social media. The event isn’t affiliated with EA, and there’s no guarantee that a surge in player activity will influence the publisher’s decisions. However, the organizers hope that a coordinated demonstration of support will help show that Mass Effect still has an audience.

The event is also connected to the larger #SaveMassEffect campaign. The #SaveMassEffect Change.org petition is in the ballpark of 300K signatures (as of this writing), calling on EA to reconsider the future of the franchise. Organizers are asking EA to either commit the resources needed to continue developing Mass Effect or consider licensing the franchise to another studio, although many are hoping it leads to BioWare’s restoration (despite not being written into the petition). The campaign has also received support from Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer, the actors behind the female and male versions of Commander Shepard, respectively. Both have publicly encouraged fans to support the effort.

Of course, bringing Mass Effect back won’t be easy, particularly after EA’s decision to cancel the next game and close the studio responsible for the franchise. There’s also no indication that the publisher intends to reverse either decision. The #SaveMassEffect movement has already demonstrated just how much the series means to its community, and the upcoming N7 Day provides another opportunity to keep that conversation going.
