Solarpunk: How to Cure Thirst

Thirst can become a real problem in Solarpunk if you ignore it for too long. Sprinting becomes impossible, collecting resources takes longer, and even simple tasks start to feel like a chore.

At first, finding water doesn’t seem like it should be a problem. You can’t just drink from ponds. Instead, you’ll need to craft a Rain Collector, and we’ll show you the process below so you can cure your thirst and continue in your exploration!

How to Build a Rain Collector for Drinking Water in Solarpunk

To get drinkable water, you’ll need to build a Rain Collector, which becomes available very early in the game. In fact, you will be asked to make it during the tutorial. However, before you can make a Rain Collector, you will need a Research Table. If you haven’t crafted it yet, get the following materials:

• 8x Wood (Obtained via chopping down trees with an Axe)
• 1x Cloth (Obtained via harvesting cotton plants)

Once you have the materials, you can craft the Research Table. It’s one of the most useful early-game stations because it also gives you access to important recipes like the map and bed, and in this case, the Rain Collector!

After placing the Research Table, interact with it and select the Rain Collector to start the research. Once that is done, you can go to your crafting table and build it using:

• 6x Wood
• 8x Stones
• 6x Sticks

All of these materials are easy to find early in the game. You can break rocks with your pickaxe to collect stones, and you will often see some lying on the ground. Sticks are just as common and are usually scattered around.

Once you have your Rain Collector, the next step is placing it somewhere it can actually do its job. The best place to put the Rain Collector is out in the open, where it can catch rain without anything blocking it.
