Somebody get Robert Pattinson a video game role already

All right, look—I think it’s high time Robert Pattinson brought some of his magic and charm to the video game world. After all the hits the man’s been in over the last few years while trying so hard to shake off the sour legacy of his Twilight stints, I think gaming should be his next stop.

And I feel like he’d do it in a heartbeat, so long as someone extended him the courtesy.

Robert Pattinson has proved that he has range. From simple, common people with a heavy burden like his The Lighthouse character to larger-than-life personas like in Nolan’s Tenet to narratively crucial side-characters such as his Antinous in The Odyssey, Pattinson seems like he’s entirely capable of playing them all.

He’s Batman. He’s Chris Hansen. If the scene or the role demands it, Pattinson can totally shift his voice, mannerisms, behavior—everything—to morph into the character the script needs him to be. And with that amount of range and heavy experience with high-CGI films, I think he should try his luck in video games as well.

Especially because of his voice. No two of his characters sound alike, which is perfect for voice acting that’d be necessary to play a video game character in full.

It also means he’d be able to apply his overall acting range to play a lot of different video game characters without having them look or behave the same or in similar ways, unlike some other Hollywood stars that ventured into this world before (and promptly became an eyesore after enough credits).

And you know who I think would be able to help Pattinson get into the act? I think you do, but I’ll say it anyway: Hideo Kojima. So far he’s been pretty successful in transferring Hollywood stars’ talents into video games, from Léa Seydoux to Mads Mikkelsen. True, Kojima’s style is very adjacent to movies, but he nevertheless has to jump through a lot of hoops to allow their talents to truly shine in this medium.

And so, I believe he and Pattinson would be a match made in heaven. The latter’s proclivity toward portraying borderline fantastical larger-than-life characters is perfect for Kojima’s storytelling, and I could easily see Pattinson in Mikkelsen’s role in Death Stranding if things turned out differently.

Kojima’s stories, wild as they are, also play into Pattinson’s strongest side, and as we’ve seen from his collaborations with Robert Eggers and Christopher Nolan, he has a knack for handling challenging personalities even when not given significant screen time to do so, which’d be great for an eccentric Kojima antagonist that’s also a quadruple agent of some kind.

The actor is rumored to be playing a character in Kojima’s spy action game Physint, but nothing’s official yet.

Clari Obscur, or whatever the Expedition 33 sequel will be called, would also be a great spot for him. His voice-acting skills would lend themselves perfectly to any role, and he already looks like Gustave, so he’d never feel out of place in it.

At any rate, I just want to see this dude bless games as much as he’s blessed cinema. I may be coming off as some kind of fangirl over here, but the guy can genuinely act, and that’s become so rare in modern-day Hollywood that even any scantling of good acting can make my head spin.

Especially when it’s extremely good acting. That’s when the real vertigo comes in.
