Steam users can currently pick up 2025 co-op game The First Foreigner, completely free of charge. Although it’s not technically part of Steam’s Free to Keep promotion, the game’s developer has revealed plans to transition to a paid model on July 10, giving gamers a very limited time to add it to their libraries without charge.
Steam’s free game giveaways offer users the opportunity to expand their gaming libraries without spending a cent. This mostly comes via the Free to Keep promotion, which features a wide variety of games available for free on a regular basis. However, Valve does not announce new Steam Free to Keep promotions, meaning gamers must have a keen eye on what’s currently available to pick up. At the time of writing, there are no games live on Free to Keep.

The Steam Machine appears to already be experiencing critical failures, as users are reporting a red “line of death” that bricks the system.
The First Foreigner is Free on Steam
According to Korean developer CYG, 2025 free-to-play co-op game The First Foreigner plans to transition to a paid model on July 10, arriving alongside a major update to the game. This will also add English-language support to the game, which is currently only available in Korean. The good news is that the developer has given users plenty of warning beforehand, giving as many gamers as possible the opportunity to pick up The First Foreigner for free on Steam. Those who add the free version to their library before July 10 will be able to continue playing after the transition to the paid model. While the price has yet to be confirmed, it won’t matter to those who grab it right now.

Of the reviews for The First Foreigner on Steam, 90% are positive, with an admittedly small sample size of 40 reviews in total. The concept for the game is simple, but fun, a co-op game “where players must communicate with others who don’t speak their language.” Players must use the objects around them to describe words rather than using language, and the other player has to guess what they’re trying to say as a result. This is limited by time, however, putting a limited window on moving to the next stage.
These types of fun co-op games have gained a lot of traction of late, playfully dubbed “friendslop” by the gaming community. Games like REPO and Peak started the trend last year, which has continued into 2026 with the success of games like Meccha Chameleon.
It has always been extremely common to assume that PC gaming needs to be an expensive endeavor. However, with so many great free games available on Steam, it’s clear that gamers are able to build a solid gaming library without needing to spend too much. There are currently four games planned for Steam’s Free to Keep promotion over the next two months, but this is usually expanded with more surprises on a regular basis.
