I think I see this maybe once every couple of weeks at this point, but boy, do I love OLED gaming monitors. I’ve upgraded my gaming setup many times over the last few years, but one of the best I’ve made is swapping one of my two monitors out for that crisp panel type. And, as they get cheaper, I can only recommend the swap more.

I watch over our list of the best cheap gaming monitor deals every week, so I’ve developed a good sense of which monitors offer the best value, and this Acer Predator is consistently among the lowest-priced OLEDs available. With the $20 promo code, it is firmly the cheapest monitor I’d actually recommend.

If you’re wondering what the deal is with OLED panels, they offer vibrant colours and true blacks, meaning they give the best elements of IPS and VA panels cranked up to 11. This one is 27 inches, which I’ve found perfect for a dual monitor setup, and comes with a 1440p resolution.

Generally speaking, that’s a great middleground resolution, offering sharp visuals without needing the hardware required to run it at 4K. For any budget to mid-range rig, this will be the best choice.

It’s a pretty beefy panel in other specs, too. For instance, you are getting a super solid 0.03 ms response time and a 280 Hz refresh rate, which is enough for even competitive gaming. It also comes with built-in speakers—a nice touch.

There are downsides to this panel. For one, being an older OLED panel type, you are still likely to see some font fringing. Outside of gaming, this means text can sometimes appear a bit blurry or with a slight halo. As well as this, the monitor only has a typical brightness of 250 nits (peak 1,000 nits), which is on the low end. In high-light environments, it may struggle, but it will be just fine for most gaming setups.

However, I’d argue the superior visuals of an OLED panel outweigh any of its downsides, and the price of this Acer panel makes it the best value OLED gaming monitor I can find. If I were looking for an upgrade on a budget, this would be getting my vote.
