In Phantom Blade Zero, players will come across Blackstone Shards and Sha-Chi Amber Fragments throughout their playthrough while exploring the world. The game does tell you what these fragments are for the first time you pick them up, but it’s easy to miss the explanation if you’re not paying attention. Here’s the breakdown.
What are Blackstone and Sha-Chi Fragments in Phantom Blade Zero?
- When four (4) Blackstone Shards are collected, they automatically fuse into a Blackstone, an item that permanently increases base Attack Power and Guard Break by 10%. Blackstones are required to unlock certain abilities in the skill tree.
- When four (4) Sha-Chi Amber Fragments are collected, they automatically fuse into a Sha-Chi Amber, an item that permanently increases maximum Sha-Chi by 10%. Sha-Chi Ambers are required to unlock certain abilities in the skill tree.
The +10% Attack Power, Guard Break, and Sha-Chi bonuses are applied to your character passively, and aren’t tied to any weapons or accessories that you need to equip.
Both Blackstone Shards and Sha-Chi Amber Fragments can only be found by exploring the game world, either as purple glowing items on the ground or inside treasure chests. Once you collect four of either type of fragment, they will combine into the full stone/amber, and the upgrades will be applied to your character.
Training Abilities
In the Train Abilities skill tree (accessible from any Bell), you can see three rows of abilities that you can acquire by spending Remnant Dust and meeting the prerequisites of that ability.
- The abilities in the first row only unlock after you obtain a certain amount of Blackstones. You can see how many by clicking on the ability and reading the description.
- The second row abilities require you to collect a certain number of Sha-Chi Ambers. The higher tier the ability, the more Sha-Chi Ambers it requires.
- The third row abilities require you to find Memory Flowers. These items only become available starting from Chapter 2: Crimson Forest. Like Sha-Chi Ambers and Blackstone, Memory Flowers are scattered in the form of fragments in the game world (look for blue flowers).
